** Tried to post last night, but didn't work for some reason!! In case you didn't see it on MySpace, here it is!! **
Back from our trip to NY for the Labor Day weekend, and thought I'd recap some of it...
For me, the weekend was defined by two things ---- Bucky and the rain. When the local newscasters weren't talking about Bucky, they were talking about the rain! For those of you reading that aren't familiar with Bucky, check out this link:
http://www.amw.com/fugitives/case.cfm?id=39219 ==> Basically, Bucky escaped from jail in April and has been on the run since, most recently shooting 2 State Troopers, one of whom has died. You might wonder why the hell I care about this.... well, the shooting and a lot of the other action has all happened within just a few miles of my mom's house in little ole' Cassadaga (population 650).
Believe me, it was very surreal to drive into Cassadaga on Friday, watching a helicopter fly over my mom's house... and even more unbelievable to be stopped in 10 different roadblocks during the day while running some errands! Most of the roadblocks involved the State Troopers (or DEA or Border Patrol), checking your trunk with a very large gun pointed in your general direction. A stop at the local WalMart had me taking pictures with my cell phone, as the police helicopter hovered over the building for more than 30 minutes!!
The rain was the other "TOP STORY" on all the local newscasts, and it was kind of a bummer... for one thing, it was freakin' COLD... I really should have expected it... I mean, it is WNY -- but I was really hoping that we would see the last little bit of summer while we were there.. instead, we saw the first glimpse of autumn!!
Other than all the fugitive and weather excitement, we had a great weekend and got to see lots of friends and family.... it was nice to be back, just for a few days!
