On Many First-Time!

Reported sick outside yesterday and it was the first time I ever go to a polyclinic for consultation, all thanks to the stupid rule set by SAF Bands for reporting sick outside on days with deployment. (It's not exactly a deployment on Thursday; it's just a stupid state funeral rehearsal! And no big-bugger is gonna die while I'm still serving I hope.) Anyway, I concluded that the polyclinic is all about getting queue numbers and waiting.

Ironically though, while waiting, I read an article regarding the original purpose of polyclinics, and it states that polyclinics are meant for poor people with chronic illnesses such as arthritis, dementia, so on and so forth. The article also states that people with acute diseases such as cold, flu, fever etc should go to a GP which is capable of providing accurate diagnosis at fairly affordable prizes. And all these are from our very own government.

So why are we, as civil servants, serving our National Service, not doing what our government says? Why are we forced to RSO at polyclinics just because there's a deployment? Judging from how easily people can obtain MC from polyclinics too, there is little reason for us to doubt the MCs giving by private practitioners. The only reason I can think of, is the fact that the management wants to make things difficult for those people reporting sick outside by making them queue up, wait, and squander away their precious time at the polyclinics. How cruel and evil can they get? May God bless them.

Today is also the first time I go to SMU. Went there for interviews to get into the courses I've applied for. Not that I've not been to that place; I went there when I was in NIESB. But it is my first time going to the place after it has been taken over by SMU. The whole experience is like a deja vu. I'm not too sure how my interviews go but hopefully, i'll be able to get a place. Who knows I'll be able to play in the same band as Justin and Aloysius again. (That is if they are ever gonna join SMU's Band.) So meanwhile, I'll just have to wait and keep praying.

Back in camp after the interview, it's ORD Function again! =)This time round it's for the those who enlisted one batch before me. And for the first time in my entire NS life, I actually felt that time passes quite in the blink of an eye. Albeit very much looking forward to my freedom, I can't help but sense a tinge of nostalgia within my heart. When the time comes, I'm sure I'll be more than ready and willing to leave the NS-chapter behind, but I will take with me the sweet memories of all the wonderful times I'd share with all my wonderful friends!

God bless the world with Health and Peace.
