Still Alive
I have been in Guildford for over seven weeks already. The town is a bit too small for my taste, but luckily London is only half an hour away by train. The internship is pretty cool. My tasks are very varied and go far beyond making coffee and copying documents. Being part of a start up that is about to either make it big or be forgotten in a couple of months' time is quite exciting.
One thing I wasn't prepared for is how expensive things are over here. I have lived in Britain before and knew it was not a cheap place to live, but I didn't remember it as being quite so bad. The proximity to London probably doesn't help as far as prices are concerned. Still, I enjoy food shopping at Marks&Sparks.
The job is good, Guildford is charming and, more importantly, in spitting distance to London, my housemates and I get along well - I should be happy. But I want to be in Chicago.
