For those of you who are following my dental health fiscoe, here's the latest.

I had root canal surgery yesterday, but when they opened my tooth, the infection was still too bad (the bacteria were causing it to drain) and it was extraordinarily painful to have them open the canals, which they do by inserting progressively larger files. Because of this,I have to have a second surgery on Friday the 13th. Yes, I know it is an unfortunate date, but this is the absolute best scenario if I HAVE to go again. Which I do... I should still be able to go to graduation and beach week. The doctor didn't have an appointment until the 17th which is right in the middle of beach week, but he told the receptionist to schedule me in the emergency slot for the 13th because the beach is more important than root canal surgery. I like him.

Further complications to my root canal procedures: I have 4 canals in the tooth (normal people have 3) and two of the canals are curved (normally they're straight), the curves making filing more difficult (and painful).

On the up side, they gave me a MUCH more agressive antibiotic, which is relieving some of the pressure in the tooth, so it hurts less overall since having the procedure yesterday. In fact, my mouth hurts more where they gave me the shots of anesthesia than it does where my problem tooth is. That's all the anesthesia I get though. They don't even give you nitrous oxide.

I will try to update again sometime after I have the second root canal just to let you know I'm still alive.
