The wedding was awesome. To give you an idea of the tone, my sister came down the aisle to ‘I'm Gonna Love You Forever’ by Jessica Simpson, and walked out to ‘My Heart Beats Like A Drum’. Oh, yes. We were staying in
Q1, the world's tallest residential building, and my Christ we were high. Hannah and I were in a ‘sub-penthouse’ suite on the 73rd floor, and this was the view:
Hannah and I spent much of the night casing the place for ideas to nick for our own wedding in - erk! - fourteen weeks. Hannah, by the way, wore 12cm heels to the reception:
...as well as an uncharacteristically short cocktail dress, and she looked outrageously hot. Here is both of us looking not too drunk yet:
Cameras always seem to get me as I blink, and I always come out with my eyes half-shut as though I've been photographed during a stroke. Oh well.
LJ friends, we are happily ensconced in our new flat in Paris. We live just off the legendary
Rue Cler in the 7e, and since I got home in good time today I have spent the last hour going round the local fromagerie, boulangerie, patisserie and...er, mielerie, I suppose, to get to know all the shopkeepers and buy up all kinds of awesome foodstuffs. Oh oh and I can see the Eiffel Tower from our window! Only the top bit, but it is still pretty cool.
I don't think I ever posted about Notre-Dame de Paris, which I finished and found very interesting, and now I probably won't get round to it. I also read China Miéville's Perdido Street Station recently (so that's steampunk..?), and the John Burrow historiography book which I loved at first but can't seem to finish. However, I am currently knee-deep in back-entries from my friends list, which I am finding extremely engaging. Well done all of you.
