With his Fridays clear of classes, Jory usually spent the day sleeping, only rousing himself around dinner so that he could eat and have no trouble staying up late for the weekend. Of course, today was different; and he wasn't going to sleep easy.
Still, he was on his fourth cup of coffee, and his body wasn't really used to being awake at this time of the day. As he and Jackie walked down to the kitchens, Jory was silent, sipping from his cup. He had a cake recipe in his hand that he kept glancing at with a frown; he figured Jackie would probably know how to bake a cake, but still, it never helped to have a recipe on hand.
As he tickled the pear in the painting and the door opened, Jory cast a sidelong glance toward Jackie. "Have you ever baked a cake before?" he asked her, stepping into the kitchen.
