Deirdre's quill moved furiously as she jotted down the professor's words. It would make sense that Ailuromancy would start with the Egyptians, after all, they worshiped cats, didn't they? Still, using cats to predict the weather was a rather interesting concept. Deirdre wondered how exactly it worked. How did you know what signs the cat gave meant what about the coming weather?

Deirdre watched the cat on Professor Wu's desk curiously, wondering what it would be like if the cat could explain it to them himself. That would be brilliant, a talking cat! She grinned at the animal when she thought it was looking in her direction. Then she turned back to Professor Wu expectantly, waiting for further information.

She was quite glad to have such a knowledgeable professor for her favourite subject, even if the woman did seem somewhat... cut-off from others. She thought for a moment about the woman and wondered what must her life be like for her to be the way she was. As a friendly Badger, Deirdre had little ability to understand how anyone could be so reserved from people.

Unfortunately for the class -as well as Professor Wu- the cat could not talk. If it could, Professor Wu could relax and take the class time to grade their essays and journals, and probably talk to individual students about their progress. Alas, it was a simple black cat, the kind she heard many tales and myths about their supposed "bad luck" status but as she learned, many of those muggle superstitions were unfounded.

"For a few moments, just watch the cat and what it does." She waved towards the animal as it jumped off the table and started eying the people in the room. "Try to interpret its movements, imagining if you can what it sees through its eyes. Afterwards, we'll discuss what we saw."

Deirdre nodded politely when the professor gave them their directions. Then she turned and shifted her position so she could better watch the cat. She pulled out some fresh parchment to jot down some of her observations on, then waited patiently and eagerly for the cat to do something.

It padded to the opposite corner of the desk, then sat down and began to groom itself. Deirdre wrote down what it did, trying her best to fathom what such movements could mean. She thought that such an art probably took quite a lot of patience. Cats tended to nap a lot, didn't they? What would that mean for the weather? Overcast? Deirdre knew that overcast days often made her feel sleepy, anyway.

She glanced over at Professor Wu to see what the woman was doing, hoping for some signals to pick up on. Then she looked around at her classmates. They all seemed a bit restless or confused... or something, but Deirdre had no idea why, and so she simply smiled at them, then turned back to watch the cat for a bit longer.
