back from yet another weekend at nova, with my car now sporting a new (and annoyingly chrome tipped) muffler. $287. I am not pleased, especially considering it cost me $100 less than that to get the whole pipe under the car replaced a few years ago (and i thought they put on a new muffler too). Other bad news included the wonderful people at Midas (that's meant sarcastically), telling me that i need new CV Boots for my car. While the muffler was probably about $150, counting for half of the total cost of replacement, the CV Boots are $35 each, but to replace them both would cost over $350. Needless to say, I'm going to my proper mechanic next weekend to get a second opinion and hopefully a cheaper price. Suddenly, my solid-as-a-rock Honda is starting to cause me great stress. Nothing is technically broken on it, it's all preventative maintenance and stuff that just needs to be done when you've got over 200,000 miles on a car, but still. It seems this stuff always happens at the same time.
