Well, I finally got around to going to see Black Swan, and I must say it is one of the most whacked out film I've seen in a long time. Natalie Portman's Nina is a very disturbed young lady, and the film really brings out her descent into madness. It's a brilliant piece of film, though I really hated the ending.
The other mind blower of a film I've seen recently was Inception. It's a wonderful bit of weirdness involving dreams, and dreams within dreams, and dreams within dreams within dreams. You really have to pay attention to what's going on to follow it so that it makes any kind of sense to you, and you really need several viewings to figure out everything....and even then you probably won't have everything figured out.
The Oscar nominee for best film that snuck in this year was Winter's Bone. This little film follows a 17 year old girl who's trying to hold her family together and to not let her father lose their home and land. There's a very good performance by the young lady in the lead and it's definitely deserving of it's Oscar nomination. It's worth a rent.
