Susie the Hero

Jun 10, 2009 12:37

I was awoken at 12:30 last night hearing frantic talk between Susie and Eric. So I left my room to check out what was going on. Susie was still wearing her running stuff(IPOD, etc) and looked really freaked out. I also noticed the 2 med boxer like dogs looking through the back door window. So I ask Susie what happened and she tells me...

She was running with Bruce on her normal late night walk when these 2 dogs appeared out of nowhere in our development. The approached very quickly and Susie stood firm and tried to take control of the situation. They tried to come over and sniff Bruce and he showed fear and hesitation. So the larger one attacked Bruce and then the smaller one joined in. This is when Susie leaped forward and dive tackled the large dog off of Bruce and pinned it to the ground. Bruce at this point got free and run off. The small one gave chase but nothing can follow Bruce running unless its a car and the little came back to see that Susie has dominated the large one in holding to the ground so it became submissive to her. She then drug both the dogs back to our house and placed them in the back yard after letting Bruce inside so they couldn't get to any other dogs that night. And thats when I woke up.

My first response was animal control is closed call 911. When the cops got there and listened to Susie's story. At that point I was able to get a look at the dogs in the back and know whose dogs they were. This are the dogs that have gotten in trouble before cause they get out of their encloser all the time. This are the same dogs that once barked and growled at me from under a storm drain they had somehow gotten into. So I got to the owner's house they were outside look for the dogs. So I grabbed the owner and brought him back to pick up the dogs. And that was pretty much it. Susie was limping a bit from the her dive tackle and sore once the adrenaline started wearing off. Bruce looked fine on first inspection but when I a woke this morning I had some blood on my arm and the last thing I did before going to sleep was cuddling him for being a good dog. My sister recommends I give him a bath when I get home so he doesn't get any infections.

Susie, Defender of Bruce the King of all puppies and ruler of the 9 puppy isles is the hero this night.
