Life...

It's been a while... o.o

What has happened since?

Classes have gone well (though I know I could have applied myself just a bit more in certain areas). Finished off the Japanese reqs. Finished PoliSci reqs. That's what it was mostly about.

My internship was quite possibly, the best internship for me (except that it was non-paid). I worked with SUNY Center for International Development. Basically, I was that meddling American that ran into poor countries and tried to democratize it.

And the ways we did it, make me damned proud. This organization did it from the inside out, by empowering the elected government and teaching them how to be efficient, how to find what works best for their people, etc. I put my hands into so many projects. Surprisingly, I did a lot of accounting work. I helped with auditing spending in places like Afghanistan, Kenya, Bolivia, Tanzania, Morocco, etc. I met with students from Egypt. I met with Parliament members from Malawi. Saw presentations and attended meetings for important and world-impacting issues. I met people making a real difference in the world. This is something I want to do with my future. I want to be one of these competent, talented people that are literally saving the world.

I've unofficially graduated from university. The ceremonies were fun, nostalgic, and inspiring. The personal dedication through the East Asian Department, the personal ambitions through the Public Policy/Political Science Department (with a speech by a super liberal blonde that annoyed me). And the personal experiences of the entire graduating class at the commencement.

Though some very adult things have already smacked me in the face. Like, my sudden lack of health insurance. My sudden legal independence. (Drinking-wise too :3) My sudden thrust into the world.

Though admittedly, I'm cheating a bit. Tomorrow, I will be flying to see my Raymond. And we'll be taking a very romantic and exciting trip to Paris as well. For three wonderful weeks, I'll be enjoying the fruits of my hard work and be having a blast.

Right after I return to the US, I'll be going back to school for 4 weeks to finish a measly 6 credits in order to officially get my diploma. (After an appeals process, there was no way or place I could get the credits from. But it'll be an easy month I hope) Afterwards, I'll go back home, find a job and save some money. I've applied for Peace Corps because it was just a breeding ground for influential people in the legislative development field. Then after 2 years, I hope to get a fellowship to graduate school to continue learning how to save the world some more.

Though if my plan doesn't follow through, I have amazing support with a number of professors literally forcing me to go to grad school in Albany (Albany has a top-ranking grad school for political science). So I would be ready financially by Fall 08.

So that's life. My family is well too. I think it's fair to say that I've been extremely lucky and blessed.

See you all later, packing and getting ready to fly out tomorrow. Take care~
