Abilities
Character's Canon Abilities:Character Abilities:
Yuffie is a fully trained ninja and has been for years, she's the strongest fighter from Wutai and technically one of the strongest fighters on the planet. Even though she pales in comparison to Cloud, Vincent, and a lot of the Villains because Square is meanlikes to uber power the villains. She is able with almost all bladed weapons, especially shurikens and knives. Yuffie is very capable with hand to hand fighting and is able to literally run up walls and in cases looks more like a gymnast then anything.
She is able to equip materia, the magic crystals in FFVII (and has VERY high magic skills if you train the character at all, which I tend to, so I generally set her to where she is in my main FFVII save just to save time and assume she is very competent with magic.)
Yuffie also has limit breaks, which are powers that kick in when the person is 'at their limit' as the name suggests. Yuffie's are mainly multiple attacks at once, huge explosions or, what is in my opinion the most useful, Clear Tranquil. Clear tranquil heals the party, all three members, part of their health returns and no mp is used.
Yuffie's limits. Links to videos She is also at least bi-lingual, though I make her also able to read a bit of the older languages due to having to look through old documents for the WRO. She has minor computer skills and is able to use a sniper rifle (moderate), though fails at most other gun type weapons.
And, last but not least, Yuffie is a thief, she can steal, pickpocket, and pick locks with the best of them.
Conditional: If your character has no superhuman canon abilities, what dormant ability will you give them? Totally has superhuman abilities. And she's proud of them.
Weapons: (For materia I go by the Crisis core/Before Crisis spell names. If canon mates differ I am willing to change) A giant shuriken,a lot of smaller weapons (knives, senbon needles, things like that. There is also a paper crane but we don't talk about that.), and, of course, materia. She can equip 8 with her final weapon, and reasonably two more in items or the like. The spells equiped when she's pulled are Firaga, Blizzaga.Thundaga. Full Cure, Leviathan, Mp up, All (connected to the cure), Esuna, and Flare. Due to the world change, they probably wont all work fantastically all the time. Especially if Yuffie isn't at her best. They are pretty will driven...
History/Personality/Plans/etc.
Character History:Yuffie was born the princess of her country Wutai. Her father Godo, had managed to get them into severe problems with the current world power, Shinra Electric Power Company. Simply put, they were the only part of the world Shinra hadn’t yet managed to sink their claws into. This led to a war that decimated her country, turning it into little more then a tourist attraction and causing most of its revered traditions to fall by the wayside. She took all of this as a personal insult, so Yuffie formed a hatred for Shinra at an early age that would cause her to fight against them most of her life. She was even antagonistic to those of Shinra who were kind to her during their stay, screaming at them, stealing their things and making their time in Wutai a good deal harder then it should have been.
At sixteen, Yuffie was a highly trained ninja of her people, willing to fight and willing to steal. She ran away from home to get Materia, a power source, which allows the user to draw magics or summons, in order to return power and honor to her country. She hoped with enough magic, they could take the country back from Shinra and return to the ways of old that she barely remembered.
Her whole life changed however, when she came upon some travelers that she thought would be easy to steal from. Little did she know, this group was in fact Cloud Strife and his companions from the group AVALANCHE who were on a quest to save the planet from Shinra and Sephiroth. She tried to fight the group, trying to prove that she should be able to leave with their materia, when Cloud and the others allowed her to join them. Yuffie joined them, and plotted behind their back to steal their Materia, even as she helped them. Her country the most important thing, even more important
then the growing friendships she began to have with the members of the party. Eventually, when the group made it to her home she robbed them blind and ran. She held little remorse, but mainly because it was to save Wutai. Unfortunately for her, she was caught by Don Corneo, a mafia boss with a penchant for trying to find attractive young women. At the same time, the Turks, an elite force of Shinra’s military like body guards, were off duty in Wutai and had lost a member of their group to Don Corneo in his sweep of Wutai. In a bit of a desperate measure the groups teamed up to find the girls and killed Corneo. Surprisingly, the Turks let them go afterward, saying they were off duty and didn’t want to fight.
After Cloud and their friends saved her, she gave back everything and rejoined their group. She
promised not to steal from them again…well…anything useful anyways.
They followed leads trying to find a way to stop Sephiroth, only succeeding in causing more trouble for themselves. Especially when Aerith decided to take matters into her own hands. She tried to save the planet using a spell that was the exact opposite of the one Sephiroth wanted to use to kill everything. She ran from the rest of their group and it took a while to catch up with her, but when they did she was in mid spell. Sephiroth killed her right in front of the party. Yuffie, like the rest of their friends, took the death very hard. (If you have her in your party at the time she will breakdown on Cloud and cry.)
They continued their fight to save the world, now fueled by a need to continue what Aerith tried to do. In the process of following the clues, they ended up finding out that the Sephiroth they were fighting was only a clone, and Cloud was being manipulated by the clone, and the Calamity, Jenova. During the encounter that gave them the information, Cloud was controlled by Jenova and gave the black materia they had fought to get ,that contained the spell Sephiroth wanted, to Sephiroth.
This caused a chain of events that left the group in the hands of the
Shinra company and Cloud was no where to be found.
When they had escaped and finally tracked Cloud down, he was catatonic, having lost himself in a mess that was a mix up in his memories. Tifa, who had been leading them in Cloud's absence, decided to stay with Cloud.
Yuffie and the rest of their friends, led by the pilot Cid, continued to search for a way to save the planet from Sephiroth and Jenova, trying to stay a step ahead of Shinra at the same time. During that time she returned to Wutai and fought her way to the highest rank in her village so she could obtain the Leviathan summon, which was a symbol of her people.
After they recovered Cloud and Tifa, who had spent a good deal of time doing some literal soul searching, they went on to fight Sephiroth. Sephiroth had gotten the chance to summon his most powerful attack, Meteor, and the planet itself had to fight back. Cloud led a main team to fight Sephiroth himself. Yuffie was given a different job. She and Vincent went to Midgar, the main city, and began to help Reeve and the rest of Shinra evacuate the city as quickly as possible. Due to their efforts many lives were saved. But it wasn't enough. Yuffie and Vincent were barely able to clear the city as the attack hit. The planet, Gaia had used so much energy trying to save itself, that it hadn't been able to save everything. And Midgar, which was to be the main target of Meteor, was decimated. The city in Ruins.
Following the end of Sephiroth, Yuffie went home to Wutai, training children to fight as she had been and trying to learn what it would take to restore the city. Two years later she was once again called to fight as children began to disappear from Wutai. During her investigation, she found that Cloud was fighting the same problem in Edge, the city that replaced Midgar, and came to his aid against the clones of Sephiroth. She helped fight the giant summon that Kadaj summoned to attack the city, and followed the fight with most of her friends in the airship the Shera. Like the rest of
them, she watched the fight due to Cloud apparently being the one who needed to battle the clone, who mutated into Sephiroth halfway through the fight. She also saw Cloud apparently killed by the other two clones and was there for his revival in Aerith's church.
Once again having gotten involved, she was pulled in even further by joining her friend Reeve’s World Regenesis Organization. The WRO was created to fix the planet after the Fall of Shinra and Sephiroth. Yuffie worked with Reeve, Cid and everyone else to help fix the awful situation the planet was in. That was a relatively easy task until new information came to light, a secret section of the Shinra known only as Deepground. Deepground had been an experiment to get new warriors for Shinra, mutating and warping people to their sick designs. Within Deepground there was a elite group called the Tsviets, they were the strongest warriors of Deepground and the most devoted to the cause.
During this time she got wrapped up in the situation of her friend, Vincent, who was fighting the demon within himself, as it turned out, the Tsviets needed the creature housed in Vincent, Chaos. Yuffie came to his aid as often as she was able. Even saving his life during a battle with Rosso the Crimson.
Deepground was trying to end the planet again, using Omega. Omega would drain the planet and let everything "return to the stars". They needed Chaos, because Chaos was the Harbinger of Omega. When Chaos was fully activated then Omega could arise.
Yuffie and the old members of AVALANCHE and the current members of the WRO fought against Deepground who had taken root in the ruins of Midgar. She shut down one of the reactors so Vincent could get to the leader of the Tsviets, Weiss. Yuffie ended up outclassed when Nero of the Tsviets attacked her and Vincent. Vincent then saved her and made her sit the fight out. When he defeated Weiss, he then evolved into Omega and Vincent/Chaos had to fight to save everything, and Yuffie to the information back to the rest of the group and got them to shut the old reactors down so Omega couldn't get power.
She watched her friend fight the WEAPON, and when it exploded....Vincent was no where to be found. Yuffie then began to look for her friend, fearing the worst, but not willing to accept it.
Previous RP history:Yuffie was one of the first arrivals in St. Edelweiss, and instantly began causing trouble, shouting and protesting from the moment she awoke. She quickly found that she was not the only one from her world, and that both Reeve and Cloud had been taken too. Reeve was from her time, but Cloud was much younger. She adapted quickly enough to the idea of the timeline mess and the idea of different worlds. Despite this, and all the other strangeness, Yuffie fell into a position of assisting whoever seemed to need it most at the time, trying to make friends among the people of the asylum.
Soon after, Reeve was injured by one of the staff who would become a hated enemy of the patient population and Cloud disappeared. There was nothing that could be done for the disappearance, but Yuffie did her best to help patch up Reeve., something that would become frequent as the Staff took a particular interest in her boss, as Reeve tended to make allies quickly among the others. This would become the natural order of things in the asylum, patching up who you could, and realizing that if someone went silent they were likely gone for good. (Except Cross. But he was always an exception to silly rules like that.)
There was a wave of promotions soon after her first therapy, and to the astonishment of everyone including Yuffie herself, she was named a nurse and promoted, despite her obvious dislike of the asylum and everything it stood for.
She tried to use this to help her friends and stop people from being hurt, but she also used her position to be able to use her limits again, getting into a fight with another staff member, Azula. Neither girl was expecting the other to live up to their supposed abilities. The battle ended in something of a draw, though Yuffie ended up with a burn scar over her shoulder due to the encounter.
Due to this and fact that none of her friends seemed pleased by her actions, she took it down a notch and calmed to a degree, trying to make sure she’d be able to help if someone really needed it. She managed to keep to this fairly well for a little while. Until Sephiroth got there, and Yuffie pretty much counted that as the moment things truly went downhill. She became convinced that he was going to be a danger, and became reckless.
As part of this recklessness, she ended up fighting Shira, who had hurt several people in the asylum, and both managed to leave without major injury. In an attempt to get some kind of justice out of the situation and because she was terrified of what he could do, she later that night ended up drugging and murdering Sephiroth, aware that it was made possible due to the power blocks of the asylum.
In true Yuffie fashion, she took this to be a sign of her renewed status as the greatest ninja on the planet and it made her cocky, not really thinking through what she had done and how that would affect anything or anyone else. The next day, she along with Jack and Service, two other members of the staff who weren’t the ones known for particularly damaging the patients, caught up with Shira to finish teaching him a lesson, only to have the staff come down on the three of them in response.
Then things went from bad, to worse. The three of them were badly injured by the security team and left to find their own ways back. Yuffie had assistance back to safety by her ex-roommate and friend, Edgeworth, and when he and their friend Nami went to find Jack, she was attacked by one of the other members of the staff.
Then, another patient in a rigged scenario killed Edgeworth. She and Jack were forced to retrieve the body and clean the area. The day after, she was demoted.
Even when Edgeworth returned to life (through means she didn’t hope to understand, but just wanted to be true) it wasn’t enough to put her back into a reasonable state of mind. She adopted an almost extreme optimism to counter everything that had happened to the point where she’d repressed a good deal of the issues into almost constant nightmares and an almost crippling dependency on her friend’s safety in the asylum. She promised herself she’d do her best to make all the awful things stop.
Of course, in a place like St. Edelweiss, things weren’t that easy. Not too long after this she discovered another friend, Matt, murdered on the stairs and spent the rest of her time in the asylum watching for signs of the killer, giving information to Mello’s attempt at an investigation.
Jack, seemed to close off from the patients and Yuffie, Edgeworth, and Reeve took this as a personal and terrifying offense. Yuffie maintained that Jack was being forced into it somehow, and eventually confronted him about the situation and the effect it was having on the others.
Things managed to calm down for the patients for a short time after, only to have them devolve into infighting over an accidental death. Reeve managed to quiet it for the most part, but there were still high tensions between everyone.
Surprisingly, what managed to break the tension was a massive game of what amounted to assassin practice. Most of the patients ended up unknowingly becoming part of the game and were ‘assassinated’ including Yuffie. Though she was unnerved by being tagged, and thought it proof that she was having more trouble keeping up to par, it helped make everyone a little less angry (or angry at everyone. It sort of was summed up in ‘everyone is either mad at or ready to laugh at the people dropping paint on everyone).
And that’s where she’s getting yanked from, the day after assassin tag.
Point in Canon:End of the game, pre the epilogue.
Character Personality:Yuffie is normally fairly loud and bubbly. She is something of an optimist and has a selfish self absorbed streak that
can cause problems. As she has grown up that has definitely become less of an issue however. Yuffie is a highly emotional and reactive
character, though she is intelligent and a useful person to have on your side, she is often ruled by emotion quicker then common sense. On
the side of intelligence, Yuffie is the head of intelligence for the WRO, she is at least bi-lingual and can fight as well as people twice
her age. In short, though the kid may seem like an air head, she is actually very smart.
Yuffie has a bit of a problem with once she has decided someone is an enemy, she has a problem becoming friends later (unless there is something in it for her that she needs).Though not a constant issue, and can work entirely in the reverse, she can be prone to making decisions about people based on who they were aligned with to the point where she decided she would be awful to people she had become allies with after learning they were Turks. Eventually she can work around it, even grow to trust people she at one point disliked or distrusted but it takes active work on either her part or theirs. The reverse is she can somehow manage to still believe in people even after they have completely and totally screwed up. She is insanely loyal, once you have her you have her nearly for good. She also is the type of person to keep an eye on people. She's the person who calls you randomly to see how you're doing and what time she WILL drop by to see
you and you had better be there.
When you met her in FFVII she was quite the self serving kid. Immature, prone to fits of temper and quite frankly a brat. Though something of a good-natured brat under all of the anger at her father and at Shinra. This occasionally shows back up, especially if she feels threatened or particularly upset or offended.
She has stolen without much remorse and was flippant about having done so. She didn't flinch at the death of Don Corneo, though his death is rather brutal, or frankly many of the things they have had to do in the Jenova war. She is willing to fight with little reason if she gets freaked out.
Her ego is also a weak point, Yuffie knows she is good. VERY good. But she's not the best, and sometime that causes issues because she will think she can do something she can't. Or if she doesn't get something fast enough she gets FRUSTRATED. She is also impulsive, Yuffie doesn't think ahead on occasion to such extreme that she will charge headlong into fights she can't win or isn't prepared for.
Personality from previous RP:Yuffie had a hell of a lot of things happen to her in a very short amount of time in Edelweiss, but one thing that never changes about Yuffie is she’s got a hell of an ego. She managed to maintain that, and her optimism throughout the whole ordeal, sometimes sounding downright insane by saying things would end up alright when at their worst. This optimism allowed her to try and bounce back from a lot of her more difficult trials in the asylum and to think how to use them to her advantage.
She only had this shaken twice, with particular deaths that hit her very hard, Edgeworth’s and Matt’s. Both of these left her angry and wanting answers. One was resolved in Edelweiss with Edgeworth coming back, but Matt’s still was a hard point for her throughout the next while. Both of these, along with everything else, left her with a sense of protectiveness towards her friends that bordered on obsessive. She’s even less willing than ever before to let people go into danger instead of, or without, her.
Near the last, she began to consider Edelweiss a warzone, and began to try and treat it as such, though the lack of a clear enemy and a clear goal aside from leaving made this difficult.
Overall, at her heart, Yuffie is still the bubbly, emotional, reactive girl that always was. She just has accumulated a hell of a lot of baggage. She’s likely to be less trusting for a while, and less willing to compromise when she thinks she’s in the right. She’ll have to fight a paranoia she’s begun to train into herself, and remind herself that though Siren is hard, it’s not as bad as Edelweiss and she doesn’t need to be quite as on guard. On the other hand, she will take the newcomer issues a lot more seriously, likely devoting much more of her time to it than she did before.
She’ll think that she’s better and dealt with everything a lot quicker than she actually has, and have to deal with the repercussions of more than a month of helplessness and anger and everything she went through as she acknowledges that it is okay she can’t bounce right back like it was nothing. But in a lot of ways, it will be very good to be back in Siren’s port because it’s a place she can more easily understand.

[There is a girl on the feed, looking actually very chipper for how confused she is. A little annoyed, but very chipper.]
Okay, so. I ‘ve been asking people right and left where the nearest WRO outpost is. And everyone’s told me that there’s no such thing. Tried to tell me other stuff too but… uh… It was lotsa other names and things that I don’t understand. Which I shoulda paid attention to. I admit. But really.
But, anyway.
So I thought, sure. Everybody but me’s gone crazy. That simple.
Then I saw this. [Points up behind her, to the sector 7 sign, and she actually looks a little nervous now.]
And now I’m wondering if I’m the crazy one here?
Third Person Sample
Now that she was really thinking about it, staying put might have been a better idea. Staying put might have been a beautiful, amazing, fantastic idea and she totally should have listened to the little Cloud voice in her head telling her she was being silly. When you had the feeling Cloud would say you were being silly that was a really bad sign.
It probably wasn’t the nicest thing to do to everybody on the sidewalk to stand in the middle of it like she was doing, but they had to give her a little break, right? Hopefully? Of course, it was as busy as Midgar in its hay day or Junon, so she was nearly knocked into by a random passerby muttering to his phone and not watching where he was going. The Jerk. She missed getting bowled over by sheer skill. Embarrassing as it was that she didn’t just see the guy and step aside naturally instead of relying on instinct.
With an exaggerated groan, she flopped down on a park bench beside the sign that had her attention. Sector 7. There was no sector 7. Anywhere. Nowhere had sectors after Midgar, and sector 7 was a waste dump now, dangerous and brutal. And worse, a mess. A really big mess that they could barely get into it to fix a thing. Damn Deepground, damn Hojo, damn non existent sector 7.
So, maybe she should have listened to any of the people who tried to explain. And should apologize to the guy that greeted her or something. Considering that he’d probably been trying to help she hoped she hadn’t broken his nose. You don’t grab ninjas in a panic. That was rule number one.
Actually that was someone distract Galian after battles with food, (or was it don’t break Tifa’s dishes? She needed to write these rules down. Not like anybody but her was keeping them, except maybe Denzel. ) but that wasn’t important. Right now…Right now she needed to find answers and get home.
