[IC Information]
Character Name: Yuffie Kisaragi
Series: Final Fantasy VII Compilation
Gender: Female
Age: 18
Species: Human (Wutai)
Sexuality: Presumably heterosexual.
Appearance: Yuffie is short, slender, and hasn’t grown much further than her 16-year-old height of five-foot-two. She has fairly typical quasi-asian features, a round face with the remnants of puppy fat, grey eyes and jaw-length black-to-dark-brown hair that curls around her face and stays out of her eyes through the crafty deployment of a bandanna. She has a tendency to gesture almost constantly as she talks, to the point that a conversation becomes more like a choreographed dance than a simple exchange of words. If she’s still, she’s either physically restrained or in the middle of something dramatic.
Her clothing normally consists of a variety of the shortest shorts a girl can get away with before they are officially classed as ‘belts’, and fitted tops, none of which restrict her movement or stop her being able to move her arms wildly every few sentences. She also wears a ragged ‘moogle’ disguise to add mystery for her more dramatic entrances.
Personality: Immature in some regards, Yuffie is devious, tricky and completely self-centered. She has grown extremely loyal to her friends, and prone to boasting with or without prompting. She will approach anyone she takes a fancy too, and her friendship can often be overwhelming and unasked for. However, there's no one better to keep a group of complete misfits together, and she will put her all into maintaining her friendships. As she makes friends easily and twists and manipulates situations in a fairly eccentric manner, she thus adapts best to new situations by making them work for her. If you’ve gained her respect - or have something she wants - she is a strong and lively ally.
Abilities: Incredibly physically fit, Yuffie can run up the side of a vertical building and perform a variety of acrobatics under pressure. She is resourceful when it comes to finding weapons, using anything from proper fuma shuriken to origami and fans as offensive aids. Her main fighting strengths are therefore her speed and dexterity, as well as her inventiveness in and out of combat.
She has extensive knowledge on the use and acquisition of materia, which are unfortunately not that useful once she arrives in Manhattan. She still retains the ability and motivation to steal anything she sets her sights on with no small amount of competence, though her personality tends to clash if she hasn’t planned it in advance. If badly hurt or in the middle of a surge of emotion, she can draw out certain powers, ‘Limit Breaks’, but the effort leaves her exhausted and can only be used as a last resort.
Weaknesses: Brash and melodramatic, Yuffie tends to let her emotions get the best of her. She often appears clumsy and immature in both actions and speech, and lacks tact when dealing with others due to her childish, self-centred mindset. Easily flustered by unexpected actions or being ignored, she will bluster and whine until the attention is on her again. She does not plan ahead, choosing instead to think of a single aim and stick to it. Physically she lacks raw physical strength, and gets travel-sick if she is not controlling the mode of transport. Not having materia to augment her natural arsenal will confuse her, and she will have to relearn some skills for which she originally relied on it.
Manhattanite or outsider? Outsider.
History: The princess of a nation taken over by the corporation ShinRa when she was a child, Yuffie grew up in a country made weak by tourism and subjugation. By the age of sixteen, Yuffie had grown to disrespect her father, contemptuous of his ways, and chafing at the restrictions against materia, a tool that would have saved her people from their low status and dishonour. She began to hoard what materia she could find, and just as Midgar suffered the bombings of AVALANCHE and the fall of the plate, Yuffie left her homeland for the port town of Junon, in search of ways to single-handedly bring back her honour as a Wutain and score as much materia as she could in the process.
She forcefully joined AVALANCHE during their mission to stop Sephiroth when she ran into them (literally, since she appears as a random battle) and had her attempts to steal from them foiled. She hoped to use them to obtain as much materia as possible, and formed a fairly complicated plan to get the party’s entire collection. During their journey Aeris, one of their group, was murdered by Sephiroth, leaving the group shocked and grieving. Yuffie was the only member of the group to externalise much emotion, sobbing unashamedly into Cloud’s shoulder. This hit her hard, and she steadily grew more and more attached to AVALANCHE. This didn’t stop her putting her plan into action the moment they landed on the shores of Wutai, however. Using some enemy soldiers as a distraction, she stole every single piece of materia they owned and fled through the mountains to her hometown, pursued by the rest of the group. They were led on a merry chase through the town, meeting the ruler of Wutai, her father - who professed first not to know her and then to have no part in her materia quest, to her disgust - and being caught in several childish but undeniably effective traps. Eventually Yuffie was caught by a perverted criminal and was rescued by AVALANCHE, after which she sulkily agreed to give everything back. They continued on their journey, and eventually defeated Sephiroth and prevented the destruction of the Planet.
After the events of Meteorfall, Yuffie attempted to keep the group together, finally considering them as close as a family. When she was unsuccessful, she returned to Wutai with her Materia for her father, although she frequently made excursions outside Wutai in order to catch up with old friends or find new treasures. She spent her time there teaching the children martial arts, and so noticed when they started disappearing before the events triggered by the Silver-haired Men. She hitched a ride with Cid and joined in the battle against Neo-Bahamut, finding to her extreme annoyance that the materia she’d left with Cloud for safe-keeping had been taken by their enemies. After Geostigma was cured and the children returned, she left Edge with the Wutain children and returned to her home. A short while after, she was contacted by Reeve Tuesti and joined the World Regenesis Organisation as leader of the espionage section.
First-person POV journal sample: Someone took my stuff! I want you to own up now, and maybe I won’t hurt you as bad as I’m planning to. I have my ways and when I find you, you’ll be in a world of pain.
…
Let me just say that the stuff is completely useless and there’s no way you’d ever want it. Seriously, you should just give it back. It’s just my personal stuff. You wouldn’t deprive a girl of her treasured belongings, would you? You’d have to be a total jerk.
Third-person POV rp sample: A small heap of rubble stirred on one side of the empty street, one gloved hand emerging to push aside assorted debris and a curtain rail. From the moment the pile had moved, a steady stream of complaints, threats and general whining had issued from the owner of the hand, until the girl to whom both hand and voice belonged scrambled out and onto the pavement. Still muttering, Yuffie brushed herself off and took off one boot to shake the gravel out of it.
Perhaps an onlooker would have seen this and assumed a fairly messy arrival in the middle of said rubble, but they would be mistaken. No, Yuffie Kisaragi, superninja and general Conqueror of Evil, had fallen off the lamppost just beside it five minutes before. To her credit, it was the highest vantage point she could see whilst dizzy and disorientated, but it was unfortunately also the most structurally unsound and had proved this quite thoroughly by dropping her seconds after she’d climbed onto the lamp.
She kicked the broken bulb across the street disconsolately, then went back to the rubble to look for her bag. The curtain rail went spinning overhead and into the wall as she sent wreckage flying every which way, the clangs and crashes only just drowning out her indignant yell as the pile proved devoid of her belongings.
“No way!” She flopped down onto the kerb, dusting her hands off in an attempt not to punch something. “I had it with me when I lef-… Oh, that does it. Someone’s going to pay.”
