Just caught the sunrise this morning at Sandy's and had lox and bagel for breakfast at that place at I think South Kalaheo in Kailua. Ah, I love sunrise and breakfast, if only I can do it more often. Only problem is, my friends that I can hang out with don't like to get up early, it takes a lot of begging, and it's just not so fun if the person's not as excited as I am. I'm glad my friend who came today was one of the "willings."
We had to get up early to get to Kailua High for some Kiawe wood for an imu we are going to build later. "So why don't we get up earlier and catch the sunrise?" "Shoooots." Ah, I love swiftness.
The bagel itself wasn't that great, but anything after a sunrise is GREATNESS! I would recommend anything from Bogart's, but since we were heading for Kailua, I really wanted to try that place on Kalaheo. Should have gone to Lanikaish to catch the sunrise, but I wasn't sure if we could see it from there. But still good.
Another great place for breakfast, something to grab before the sunrise, is Coffee Talk, they have the best effing muffins I have ever had. Case closed.
I haven't hung around Hawaiian families for so long, when I was introduced, one of the younger boy leaned in, and I thought he said, "what?" 'cuz he couldn't hear my name, so I said, "Sam." and did that I'm so shocked, what are you doing, sudden jerk of my head to back off thing. Then I caught myself and realized what he was doing, and gave him a hello kiss. Then one of the kid boys gave me a kiss and a hug, and my friend gets the slap on the hand guy thing, ha! girls always get special treatments. I love Hawaiian families, i.e. the closeness, the traditions, the fresh poi....mmmmmmm....
So I'm guessing that if wood were wet, they would still burn after they dry...This better be the case or else we are in the shits. Haha. I can't wait till the camp out for the imu. I wonder if they are going to hunt the pigs, that'd be fun, and scary.
