There are times when it's all worth it

Tonight was an awesome night of LARP, though I wasn't involved in most of it. The bits I did get to play were awesome, but the real fun was elsewhere.

However, I have to give a huge thank you and I love you to loopygirl. You are beyond fantastic. :)

As most of you know, my PC of 6 years died not too long ago. Though it really sucked, the fun that has come out of it makes it worth it. Tonight was the culmination of that, in many ways.

Earlier this week I got a phone call from loopygirl basically saying, "So you wondered how Clan Toreador was going to react to Alex's death? Well, guess what? Petronious is going to be in Berkeley this Friday."

She and Brian came out and just rocked the place. Tonight was scene after scene of justification of why I've played this game for so long. (Poor) Matt's PC got raked over the coals, though he handled it very well. Various PCs were crying at some of the announcements. Abi came up and said, "Elissa has finally become what Alex was trying to make her." In many ways it was the culmination of a bunch of Alex's goals, though posthumous and, possibly, that's the only way they could have happened.

Some times when playing this game, it feels as though it's all for nothing. You know there's a bunch of PCs out there who are so much more powerful than you and seem to get most of the limelight. You feel like you're never really going to make a real difference in the game and that if your PC was just to fade away no one would care. You feel as though you're going nowhere and this hobby that you spend so much time and money on is really just a waste.

Then you have a night like tonight, where it all comes together and you see all the the little threads that you've woven over time come together to form something fantastic. Everyone there felt the repercussions of it in one way or another. Finally, all that work and time and effort are shown to mean something.

Really, tonight is not the only night of this but more the culmination. There's been a lot of fantastic stuff that led up to this and without you guys it wouldn't have happened. This is especially true of ajpursell, princess_allura, sidhedevil, literia, rumpleteazaer, shelooks12, young_egoist, dybbuk67, fungol, princessmei and numerous others who really helped to shape the character and made him into who he became.

Thank you to all who were there. Thank you to those who dragged me into this. Especially, thank you to Loopy and Brian for coming out and making this night possible.
