Ok, so I haven't updated in a very very long time. I just got a whim, so if you've been waiting for a long time to e-stalk me, your chance is finally here.
So I've been working at US Foodservice for the last several months, temping for someone on maternity leave. She decided recently that she's not coming back, so the position will soon be posted internally. Since there really aren't any other candidates, the job is pretty much mine. This will mean more money and better benefits, which is awsome.
Long story short - my car broke down, I borrowed my parent's Lincoln for a while and now I'm driving a '92 Tempo which I bought for $700. It's got 100,000 on it and drives pretty much like new.
I auditioned for the opera chorus about a month ago and got in. This is especially exciting because the first opera of the season, The Pearl Fishers, happens to be my favorite opera. We're also doing the Marriage of Figaro, Turandot, and some other opera that nobody really cares about because the other three are so badass. And the best part is, now I can officially say that I'm a professional musician.
I'm getting $200 for each opera, which includes a few months of rehearsals, twice a week, probably for about 3 hours, plus the dress rehearsals and performances. This comes out to about $2 per hour or so. I'm definately not complaining about this, because I would do it for free. On the other hand, I'm singing at a wedding next weekend and making $100 for about one hour. I think this is amusing.
I finally solved my professor cube, which I bought a few weeks ago. For those of you that aren't cube nerds like me (that's pretty much all of you), the professor cube is the 5x5x5 rubik's cube. Oddly enough, it is actually a little easier than the rubik's revenge (the 4x4x4).
Anyways, that's about all for now. If something else happens, I may update, but I wouldn't hold your breath.
