started exercising again. chose my most available subject, as usual.
I haven't done self-portraits for close to ten years; when i did them then, oftentimes they used to look older than me. now somehow i can't help but make myself look younger.
still am struggling with drawing hair volume and overall texture. well, as i said -- exercising.
also, is that weird -- and believe you me, many of you will not think i look like myself in that portrait -- but when i look at that drawing, i see my daughter, my sister, my grandmother (grandmothers, to be honest, though one more than the other), even more than I see me -- which I definitely do -- to me the drawing is more of y portrait than the (crappy) photograph, even though the proportions are off.
ETA: this is a bit better in some ways; but in trying to get the angularity of the face distorted the proportions again. oh well. must do another half a dozen of these -- or of anyone else, if anyone's willing to pose.
and, as you can see, i am using Gu's drawing pad.
