I'm a tad late in getting this posted but better late then never I guess!
I got back from my CA project Saturday night (after a 21 hour driving marathon in sleet and other shit weather) It was a comercial shoot for Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge. I can happily report that things on the set went really well and on both nights we wrapped early. We had a great crew and I can only hope to work with these guys again sometime on some future project. This will be a national broadcast when it airs, so if/when you see it, just remember that I worked hard on the effects! *chuckles* I usually hate comercials but I have a feeling that when this one comes on I'll be compelled to watch it. It was a fun gig and was more memorable than other things I've done.
With that aside, the trip was mostly hell (as I outlined before in my locked entry) It was a fairly rough trip and I can honestly say that I'm happy to be home (even though I HATE the current weather here in MN) But hey, what-do-ya-do!? Unfortunately I didn't get a chance to really explore or bum around in CA. It seems time was against me quite a bit this on this trip. =( I had planed to stay throughout the weekend but while watching what the weather was doing it seemed like a better idea to just get on the road and avoid as much snow/icy road conditions as possible.
Other than that, this post is going to consist of photos. I've pretty much said everything I need to say about it at this point. I did shoot some video clips but it will likely be a while before I can release that on the web. Photo's are okay.
Yay! ^..^
80 MPH seemed slow =(
The clouds in AZ were grouped really neatly around the mountains this time around.
the picture doesn't do it justice.
This was my home for a week.
First day of prep. A lot went into this building, actually. In real life it doesn't quite look like this. I wish
I would of taken a before and after shot. Oh well :P
Fixtures almost setup...
The end of prep night for the special effects Dept.
Next day the gaffer and grips showed up for their prep.
Prep done, starting to plan shots.
shooting starts
More shooting
More shooting
Yet more shooting
more......
Set shot. This kind of gives you an idea as to how big the rag is. (the white floating "light bounce" scrim)
A rock just about came though the windows in this pic. I was driving in AZ someplace and all the sudden glass
was thrown everyplace. the only thing that kept the rock out was the gel in between the window panes (safety glass)
It was a hell of a thing!
