Yay! LiveNation was running a promotion yesterday where they waived the service fees on any tickets bought. I went ahead and secured my pass for the Hanson show on October 28th. I'd be most happy to have company if any of you Atlanta-area folks are interested. Because it's at the Tabernacle and I have no desire to fanny around with traffic and parking in midtown, I'll probably be making use of MARTA. I should see if there are any good coffee places open late within a couple of blocks of the venue for post-concert noms.
In other news, I picked up a 640gb external harddrive from the Microcenter clearance bin last weekend, taking advantage of the state tax holiday. This means that my music collection now has a place to live convenient to all of my other technological bits. I'm going to have to do some leet haxoring tomorrow to get Zune's software to talk to my OS (XP Pro 64-bit) but it doesn't look any more complicated than stuff I've done before.
Hil and I went to see the laser shopw at Stone Mountain with Dad, Stepmom, and Sister-in-law. Mainly I was appaled by the sound engineering, and very glad for the earplugs that are a regular part of my purse stash, but I guess projecting music over a large space that includes a mountain of exposed granite on one side makes for several technical problems. Speaking of which, anyone know if there's such a thing as hi-fidelity earplugs? I enjoy going to concerts, but I've put a lot of work into calibrating my ears and I do not enjoy hearing loss. I have triple-flanged plugs that I use for shooting sports, but they seem to clip out the treble and the midrange to an annoying degree.
