I has a shiny new piece of furniture. Hil and I ran out to Brookhaven last night (The traffic gods were with us and it didn't take forever) and I snagged a lovely computer cabinet that I found on Craigslist for a whole whopping $25
It's a discontinued piece from the IKEA Hemnes line, back when that was still made of MDF. Yay for being able to put my computery things away so that they can't be gotten into by animals and friends' young children. Now, if I can find a compatible one for Hil, we'd be a long way toward making our informal living room not look like a server room barfed in it.
I want to do a snazzy repaint on the door panels. I'm thinking it'll be either koi or dragon carp, or both. Those would be auspicious symbols for a couple ("koi" in Japanese is homophonous with a word that roughly means "affection") at least one of whom is applying for Grad school (carp/dragon carp=perseverance in adversity). If for no reason else, being featured on IKEA Hacker would be all kinds of awesome.
