Bye bye money bye bye...

Last night when she got home from taking Z to Taekwondo jegie mentioned to me that the steering in her car was sluggish. That she had to turn the wheel for a bit before the steering seemed to engage.

I looked it up on teh internets and it sounded like a problem with the tie rods was the most likely culprit with some other possible issues.

So this morning we decided I would take her car to the dealership and she would take the Jeep Cherokee and run the kids places and hit the doctor for her checkup then pick the kids and I up after work if they couldn't fix her car today.

So I drove to the dealership and indeed the steering was not very responsive. I took it a little slow just to be on the safe side. I got to the dealership and as I was turning to back the car into a parking spot by the service entrance there was a noise and kind of a lurch. And the wheels wouldn't straighten out. The tie rod had broken away from the wheel completely. I couldn't get into the spot nor get to another spot. Finally some mechanics came out with a dolly jack so they could push the car where they needed it to go.

The A/C doesn't work on her car either. And the car is almost 10 years old now. So... depending on what numbers we get back from the estimate we'll either repair just the steering issue, the steering and the A/C, or see what kind of used vehicles they have on the lot and how much they'll give us in trade for the Stratus... sigh... and we just got my car paid off a couple of months ago.
