From a post I made to a local gaming forum...

Thought I'd copy it here for any of you who read my LJ but HAVEN'T YET GOTTEN INTO SUPERNATURAL... WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR???

OK, this summer Jackie and I have been drawn into the world of Supernatural. It's a killer TV show. Think X-Files (early seasons) meets Route 66. Two brothers travel around the country in a '67 Impala with a trunk full of shotguns, pistols, rock salt, silver bullets and holy water and put ghosts and other malevolent creatures to rest. All the while they are searching for their father who has recently gone missing while on a "hunting trip" and looking for clues as to the supernatural thing that killed their mother 22 years ago.

It's a great show, has a feel like the early seasons of the X-Files (not surprising as they have some of the old X-Files production staff working on this show). Also Ben Edlund, who created The Tick and wrote and produced episodes of Angel and Firefly has recently been working on Supernatural as well. Also McG is executive producer on this show.

Not to mention the killer classic rock/hard rock/heavy metal soundtrack of the show. Add in the creepy stuff they encounter, some occassional comic relief (usually in the form of one-liners) along with the bevy of attractive women who appear every week (and apparently some women viewers find the two main characters attractive...) and some butt kicking and it's a formula for a great TV show! Plus some of the episodes just scream gaming adventure ideas (not surprising that it's being made into a pen and paper RPG by Margaret Weis Productions (http://www.thegpa.org/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=142)

Anyway, Season 1 of the DVDs is on sale this week at Best Buy for $19.99 (normally $48.99) so here's your chance to check this awesome show out. I picked our copy up this morning. Season 2 will be out on DVD in September and Season 3 starts in early October. And after the way Season 2 ended things look to be VERY interesting in Season 3...
