So the latest shazam from the 08 campaign trail:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070802/pl_nm/usa_politics_obama_dc Obama said that as president he would not exercise the option of using nuclear weapons in Afghanistan or Pakistan to attack Al Qaeda. Hillary's response: "...I don't believe that any president should make any blanket statements with respect to the use or non use of nuclear weapons..."
Wow. If Hillary gets elected remind me to pay my parking tickets promptly so she doesn't render East Central Illinois uninhabitable for 10,000 years over some $15 ticket...
First she criticizes Obama for being willing to open talks with countries that are currently "hostile" towards the US in hopes of improving relations... then she says that the president should ALWAYS be willing to threaten the use of nuclear weapons. Wow. Think she'll start making up words like "Strategerie" soon?
I mean, last I recall we were on friendly terms with Afghanistan and Pakistan. Should we really be lobbing nuclear weapons (you know, weapons of mass destruction) into allied territories to get a couple dozen guys that are hiding among a civilian populace? I mean I'd understand if the countries were fanatical enemies of the United States, like France... go ahead and roast 'em. But my understanding is that Afghanistan and Pakistan are trying to work with us on taking out Al Qaeda... they might change that stance if we start melting large portions of their citizenry...
She won't make any blanket statements that she wouldn't be willing to use nuclear weapons within the United States to get at a small number of targets hidden among the general populace? I don't think we should elect a president who's not willing to say they won't nuke our own country!
If she's not willing to take the nuclear option off the table in any situation what other options is she willing to exercise? Is she down with flying planes full of people into buildings full of people? Will she make a blanket statement about not doing that? Because as I recall that's why we're going after Al Qaeda in the first place... if she's willing to stoop to their level and threaten using nuclear weapons on allied countries to get revenge on a few people among a large population of innocent civilians... I don't see how she gets off on criticizing Bush over the Iraq War.
It starts with a Celine Dion tune... and it ends with the planet in smouldering ruins...
