Two quick things,.

I've now got all the parts for my computer except for the SSD, which should be coming in any day now. I chose Canada Post to deliver it, because if we don't USE the damned thing, it will disappear like the USPS postal service is fighting against doing. Plus it was actually cheaper. Why the site automatically selected FedEx or UPS or whatever, I don't know.

I heard someone knocking on the door this morning, and I thought to myself "Surely that can't be my package, I couldn't even track it yesterday!" I went outside, and sure enough, there was a Canada Post van in front of our house. But where was the postman?

The people upstairs had told him to go behind the house, and he was knocking on the patio door. Why they didn't tell him to go down the stairs where there's a door bell, I'll never know. But he was kind enough to go around, and try a second door, so he was still around when I ran up to him.

I thanked him, and gushed that I was going to have the best computer ever! He told me he hadn't seen anyone this happy in a long time. Does no one get cool stuff in the mail?

It's all here, and all seems great.

The second thing I wanted to mention... I'm reading Fallout: Equestria, and if you can read grimdark stuff to do with ponies, I would HIGHLY recommend it. If the fallout games are half as well written as this, I might have to give them a shot. Even though I'm not a huge fan of post apocalyptic thingers.

So I decided that maybe I should have another story to balance it out with, something less grimdark. (And I would drop the f-bomb here as well, were I inclined to do so.) What do I balance it out with?

Triplanetary, Lensman book 1, by e.e 'Doc' Smith. My dad's had some of his books in the basement for years, so I thought I should maybe give them a chance. Especially since this is supposed to be a cornerstone of scifi, and the basis of the space opera genre.

Also, violent as all get out, everything so far has either been a nuclear attack (in atlantis), a fight, or a war. GREAT CHOICE, I'll just pat myself on the back here.
