Yesterday was pretty fun.

I'm not sure exactly *why* there was a sleepover at my house last night, it'd be nice if I was just told when something like that is going to happen. I wouldn't stop it, of course, I just like to know. Y'know?

So two days ago, my room make comes back with one lady, who I don't know. Then one of her friends shows up, with her nine year old in tow. Said nine year old is left to hang out with the adults in the kitchen, and needs to amuse herself.

I went upstairs to call a friend, and I went outside. I don't have reception in the basement, and I didn't want to disturb my roommate and her friends. Also, it was a *beautiful* night. As I come back inside, the little girl is putting on her shoes to come and join me.

Well. I think. What the hell. I'm just watching a movie downstairs, she can join me. So we re-arrange the couch and I restart the Guardians of Ga'Hoole, which we both enjoyed quite a bit. It was a bit of a treat to watch a movie with the target demographic, she was literally on the edge of her seat for a few parts.

Yesterday, I decide that I'm going to get some sunshine, and work on my bag galdurnit. So I set up the ol' sewing machine, and have at 'er. This *fascinated* the little girl, she was watching me so intently. Eventually, I went and grabbed some scrap from my fabric stash, such as it is, and she played with that. She also got super afraid of the machine, which was actually kind of hilarious. She didn't *quite* understand how to control the speed of the machine, so she'd press the pedal a little, and then I'd encourage her to press it a little more, and she'd JAM HER FOOT ALL THE WAY DOWN so that thing ran like a bat out of hell. Then she'd scream, and take her hands away from the machine, but keep her foot plastered to the floor.

I kicked her foot off the pedal before the sewing machine, I don't know, exploded or something.

By the end of the day, she was able to control the speed really well. (I am told this is because now she was wearing shoes, and she was worried about a pin falling on her bare feet.) She still was afraid to control the fabric, so I did that. I figured getting her half the way there was better than nothing, right?

At the end of the day, she'd made a little book that she called her 'Touch Book', which contained little pieces of all the fabrics I had out. She'd written on each one a descriptor of what it felt like, with markers that I had. The she decided to make a doll. I figured I'd just let her go, since I didn't really want to supervise making a pancake style doll that you'd stuff.

And she made one! His name is Professor Joe Poupee, and he features a distinguished sheepskin moustache. And hair. And also a messenger bag that we made, that can hold the touch book. And then his head kind of fell forward, so we found an old pencil crayon and cut a couple of slits in his body and head, and threaded it through. So he would stand straight.

I hope she really enjoyed herself. I know I would have gotten more work done if she hadn't been there, but I wouldn't have had as much fun.

And THEN I went to Tandy to buy some Barges Cement, and THEN I went to Mandarin, which was *awesome* and worth every penny. It was so fun to hang out, I'm really treasuring these moments. They're even more important, when I'm not living with friends, y'know?

It was also hilarious to see redhead M's expression when I explained where I was living. "Wait." She says. "You only rent a room?"

"Yeah, a room in a house. I get access to all the common areas." Uncomprehending stare.

"Wait. You rent a quarter of a house?"

Haha, I guess she's never thought of living with random room mates, before.

And THEN we went to see Winnie the Pooh. The theatre was *deserted*, I think there was the five of us there, plus one other guy in a different theatre. Also, the showing was a half hour later than J thought it was, so we had to wait. I could have had more chocolate covered strawberries! ALSO, since there are no previews or anything, they decided they would start it five minutes later than the printed time on our tickets. "Could have told us that, y'know." I told the guy, when I went out and asked when the hell our movie was going to start.

Oh, and the best part? People might show up late, and be angry that they missed the beginning of the film. Who else is going to see a 9PM showing of *Winnie the Pooh*??

It was cute, and there were enough moments in there for the adults as well that I think they'll enjoy watching it with their kids. It was well animated, and I really enjoyed how the characters kept interacting with the storybook they were in.

Then I went home, catching the bus with marii_chan. We listened to the Axis of Awesome's song about Zombie Wizard Jesus. In fact, I'm done for now, here it is to play us out.
