Well I've been trying to get my garden in shape for the summer. Last fall we got some trees cut back and removed for said garden so hopefully more sun will equal happier plants.
I've put in 5 tomatoes: brandywine, Kentucky beefsteak (big yellow), roma, cherry, and little yellow pear; 2 eggplants; peppers: serrano, purple bell, and poblano; cucumbers: japanese and tendergreen; baby bear pumpkin; mini cantaloupe; and a baby watermelon. Oh, and we got a new blueberry bush and moved the two very sad sticklets of blueberry that I planted two summers ago in a too shady location. I picked up some lettuce for the shady spot. If the lettuce doesn't work out I'll have to plant some shade tolerant plants there just to keep the weeds down.
The yard also has its share of pests. I get this white powder on things and noticed scale bugs all over my Myer lemon tree today and glistening drops on the climbing rose which means aphids. So we took a trip to Summer Winds today to get ladybugs, but they were out.:( I got an organic spray for the scale bugs and the staff person said it will take care of the aphids too. Let's hope.
Last night had a friend over and barbecued. I made a weight watchers recipe of pork tenderloin with a blueberry mango sauce. Our friend was unsure of the combination of blueberries and pork, but it turned out to go together very well. I also made prosciutto wrapped asparagus and couscous. Then to our shock and amazement we discovered our friend had never had smores before, so we had to make them which was much fun. Especially after a busy week....with conferences coming up on Monday. God tomorrow is Monday:P
