I never post anything good....

Sooo....I'm really posting out of a feeling that I *should* post something, since I haven't posted in a month. Well, things are same-ish, 'bout to graduate this semester if I can pass my two classes. But! New animal things are going on, so I will talk about that.

I now have 6 leaf chameleons!!! I had a 20 gallon set up ready for when we got some more females at work, and we finally did! So I snagged 3 of them. I had already separated one of the males out of my original group of 2 males and a female because it seemed like the other male was intimidating/dominating him, he was hiding a lot, etc. So he was in the 20 by himself. 2 of the new girls went in with him, and one went in with the other male and female I originally had in the freshly-redone tank Jen and I built ages ago. They seem pretty happy in there. Shortly after I replanted the old tank I saw the male chasing the female around and displaying at her. It's super cute to watch, he gets all stripy and puffs himself up and dashes over to her, then the female turns really dark colored and starts rocking from side to side on the branch, telling him "GO AWAY I'M SO NOT IN THE MOOD." But of course the male doesn't really care if she's in the mood or not, so he'll chase her all over the tank trying to talk her into it, I even saw him grab her tail with his front foot to try and make her sit still. SO FUNNY OMG I LOVE THESE GUYS. Anyway, I didn't actually see him seal the deal but I did see her digging suspiciously in a corner a couple weeks later (they bury their eggs) so if I'm super lucky I'll get wee leaf chameleons!!! SO CUTE!! The new female has been digging in that tank also, I actually caught her in laying position once and she gave me the evil eye. These females were probably WC and a lot of them come in gravid, so that's cool!! I've seen the new girls in the other tank on the ground a couple times, but haven't actually seen them digging. There's more cover in there, though, so I could have missed it.

The balls have been locking up (lol, sounds dirty), or at least trying. I've seen Eda and Root locked up for sure a couple times, so hopefully Root will actually do something this year (last year she and Eda did the dirty constantly, but no eggs >:P). I've even seen Bark trying to hook up with the new lady, Branch, which is cool because I didn't really expect them to do anything until next year since Bark is still pretty young. Otherwise, snake things are same old, same old. Ooo, almost forgot!! I *did* get a new ball the other day! She is a baby het Albino and will hopefully be Eda's girlfriend in a couple of years, I got her for cheap at work (thanks boss-man!). I think I will name her Twig. Or Leaf. Opinions?

Umm....what else...I dunno if Jen knows this even tho it is kind of old news so I will post that I got some dart frogs from Carlos at work about a month or two ago, he is King of dart frogs and has a bunch of all different species at his apartment. His imitators are breeding like rabbits at the moment, he's got one tank of about 8 and other of about 15, and they just keep making more! They'll raise the babies themselves in the tank, so he can't really slow them down much. Anyway, since he has so many, he *gave* me three of them! AWESOME!! I set up a vertical 10-gallon with the easiest plants in the world (pothos and climbing fig) and they seem pretty happy in there. He tried to pick out at least one female but they're hard to sex (basically the females are *slightly* more pear-shaped/fatter than the males). I haven't heard them calling yet but I've been tweaking a few things so hopefully they'll breed for me! Here is a pic that I snagged off of Google (thanks kevin69 on flickr) just so you can see what they look like, they are about the size of a thumbnail (hence them being called a 'thumbnail' species), they're pretty, ne?:

I've also started raising flightless fruitflies to feed them, nasty! (Actually the fruitfly food smells pretty good when you mix up a fresh batch...)

The rats are not doing so well, being, y'know, super OLD. All of my boys are gone...(Even Mikan! He held on the longest, but finally gave in) I'm not sure if there was anything really wrong with them except old age in general. Mikan didn't seem *sick*, just skinny and tired...oh well. Only Hina is left of my old rats. She seems to be in good shape, still fat and happy, except the tumor under her arm that I had removed once already is growing back. I'm debating whether I should get it removed again...Anyway, since Hina is showing no signs of dying soon, I got her a 'new' friend. There was an older girl rattie in the breeder rack at work that I liked a lot, she wasn't making very many babies anymore, so I 'retired' her and took her home with me, she and Hina are getting along great. I was corny and named her Sakura, since she's probably the last rat I'll have and that's about the only Japanese flower name I hadn't used...she is not pink, though!!

AND...finally....I'm thinking of getting a pair of THESE:

Malaysian Leaf frogs. We just got them at work, and they are AWESOME. Look at those horns!! What do you think? ^__~

God, I'm such an animal freak...
Also Jessie and I have an agility trial in San Marcos on March 7th, wish us luck!!
