Dear Friends of Sassafras Grove,
We are pleased to invite you to our Oestre (Spring Equinox) Rite and
Celebration to be held on Saturday, March 24, 2007 beginning at 12:00
PM. The festivities will be held indoors at Parish Hill Grove in North
Park and will be an all-day event with ongoing activities to celebrate
the arrival of Spring (please see the following schedule for details).
All Grove members, Pagans and Pagan-friendly people are welcome to
attend, and are strongly encouraged to BRING CHILDREN to participate
in the merriment!!!
The theme of the rite will be Anglo-Saxon, honoring the Dawn-Goddess
Oestre as the Gatekeeper who makes ready the way for new growth, and
the ancient European Earth Goddess Nerthus as the Earth Mother who,
warmed by Oestre's rays, arises to new life to bring bounty.
This year our pot-luck foods will be blessed as part of the rite so
that we may enjoy a sacred feast immediately following. You are
encouraged to bring foods that have been traditionally special for you
and your family at this time of year, for as we have learned, Easter
traditions ARE Oestre traditions!
