I've been reading the book that Trey bought me for X-mas. The author ( a Professor of Para-psychology at New York Institute of Technology ) has some very strange theories. He believes that the mind, as we know it, may actually be a spirit. That the body holds the spirit in this life. He says that we know the mind exists, but cannot measure it or explain it in physical terms. He goes on to explain that ghosts are spirits that are left behind. You see, to him, most spirits leave into the "spirit realm" after the body dies. But, there are some that stay here in our plane of existence. He says, that ghosts are there, but not actually there. It is pretty strange but I've also read another theory on ghosts.
This theory, developed by (what I call a genius) has been cast out of the scientific community. He says that ghosts are actually projections of the mind itself. He says that we know the mind is powerful enough to cause physical changes in an environment and that with collective thought, a projection can be made. Basically he says that if enough people belive in something, and believe they want to see it that the minds will actually generate a seemingly physical form of that thought. One his stories he tells, (which he says is true) there was a house that was haunted by a tall man in a hat and long cloak. The ghost would always do the same thing at the same time everyday. The house had no inhabitants that died, however, there was an author that lived in the house and wrote many stories. The main character in most of his novels was the tall man in a dark cloak. He says that the author's mind actually created this character in a physical form.
Now a question for all of you: Do you believe that ghosts are something left behind, or a mass of pure thought?
