Echidna Sex
Amazing what you learn at parties. Last night I learned about the penis of the Echidna (Tachyglossus aculeatus).
While snakes and some lizards have two-headed penises (hemipenes), the Echidna goes one better with a FOUR headed one. From observations it seems only one half fires at a time. It's not know exactly why the penis is structured this way, but probably has something to with sperm competition.
