Here is an article on the Most Alien-Looking Place on Earth - I particularly love the Dragon's Blood Trees. I think I've seen them in some SF illustrations.

I know I've seen those trees somewhere before too, but man, everything on those islands are just gorgeous and so bizarre. The smiling tree, LAWL. Thanks for sharing! ^^

They have already burned away most of the Madagascar trees. There's something to save still, but most is lost already.

Today about 90% of the original rainforests aren't there anymore.
