The cassowary (Casuarius casuarius) is a large, flightless bird that lives in forests of New Guinea and northeastern Australia. They mostly eat fruit, but also chow down on fungi, snails, insects, ect. The coolest thing about them, though, is that they look like some sort of bird-dinosaur, and that they attack in self-defense with a dagger like middle claw on their feet that is 5 inches long. They tend to aim for the stomach, and apparently can kill quite easily. The bird itself can grow up to 5 or 6 feet tall, with females being almost 7 feet.
The smallest, the Dwarf Cassowary (Casuarius bennetti) apparently only grows to about 3'6" or so. It's also called the Mooruk, which is a very unfortunate name.
And the lulz worthy -
