Basically, these little guys are ants fed lots of food by other ants so that they can serve as live larders for the colony. It...would suck a lot to step on them. *wince*

green tree ant abdomens are also quite refreshing. A sort of lemon-lime cordial flavour

Wish that I did--sadly, I don't think I saw it on the easily-searchable internets, but rather an issue of Nat'l Geographic, or Nature, or some other magazine or book in that genre. :(
