Sources: Body in police station for hours
LIVERPOOL, England (UPI) -- The body of a recently deceased man was in the foyer of a police station in the British town of Birkenhead for hours before being discovered, sources allege.
The unidentified sources allege that the man, thought to be 40 years of age, died in the foyer of the Birkenhead Police station this week and it took hours for anyone to notice his body, the Liverpool Daily Post said Friday.
The unidentified man's body was eventually found early Thursday morning in the station's inquiry office.
The man was suspected of being homeless and paramedics confirmed he died in the room his body was found.
A Merseyside Police spokesman told the Daily Post that reports the man's body went unnoticed for up to six hours were untrue.
"I'm told he was seen alive in that time," the unidentified spokesman said, adding that an investigation had begun into the man's death.
