here was my day:
it started off with me supporting the farmers b/c they came to queen's park to protest again and today was supposed to be more radical and as they were to apparently lock down the city. i went for a walk with my friend at lunch and they passed us by and waved, and i thought how much i loved farmers and their ability to distract me from work...
when i got back from lunch, everyone was crowding around the windows of our office. b/c as you may have heard on the news, the cops had baracaded this Budget rental truck, like i'm talking 20 cars. Riot polic arrive, 911, etc. The guy keeps trying to get out of the baracade by just reversing and driving back and forth, not yet hitting anyone or anything thing, but the police have this area blocked off really good, also considering this is going on directly opposite the farmers protest where about 1000 people are watching. the budget trucks guns it for this snow mound just behind where all the officers are standing, trying to coaxe him to stop, but they all deck out in time. after a couple more minutes of this back and forth, he again guns it for the snow mound deciding its his only way out, but now smashed the street sign, where the cops finally decide "that's it". one cruiser t-bones him, not yet stopping him, and then another hits him directly on, knocking out the lights. almost directly after, we see a fire ball explode in the front seat because the guy just lit himself on fire, followed by the fireman breaking the window of the van and hosing it down. now imagine the force of that water hose from that distance. we see the fire is out, but then as they drag the man out of the van, we see he his still on fire! which was the scariest thing i've ever seen in my life. they tear his clothes off (i couldn't really see this, b/c i was on the 6th floor looking out), and then it's over. for the rest of the day, the scene remains in tact with the debree, smoking van, torn clothes and smeared blood (im not kidding you, this was very clear to see) as the area is still closed off for investigating. friggin f-ed up.
