i have had many talks with people about religion and many debates. when I am questioned to defend my religion, I never really know how, because people are one step ahead of me to condemn it, or point out the flaws. Hey at my church the read the letter to the archbishop about gay marriage, there wasn't anything too insane in it except that they want to defend the sanctity of "marriage" which if its just a word 'supposedly' means man+ women. It still made me uncomfortable though, because they were clearly saying it to sway the listners which i didn't like at all.

i think the thing is this, even if marriage is 'just a paper', or on the sweeter side, marriage is just 'love'-you don't even need the paper, the homosexual community wants it. You could give them all the benefits that a married man and a woman have, and call it a "civil union", but i think the POINT is that what these 2 people feel for each other is in fact 'marriage' and thats what they are fighting for, not a 'civil union'.

I think they should have it. and since churches can reject marrying certain people anyways (i.e divorced, etc) then they will not be forced against their wishes to do something they aren't ready to accept. But homosexuals can have ceremonies the way people do in other area (the way its still a marriage if a people have it on a beach, in a garden, while lead by a minister etc.)

Love is love. and i think marriages should be allowed, especially because its something promoting more love, which i don't know how anyone can see as a 'bad thing'.

maybe if you have a drop box at church you can write and say that you thought that joke the preist made really offended you and was very innapropriate?
