It is time to watch for Turtles
I saw a turtle on the side of the road this evening. I parked as soon as I could, and my wife and I started back to hassle it.
I saw that the turtle was trying to cross the road, and started running, but I was too late. The turtle got hit by a truck -- my wife says it was a red SUV -- and flew back to the edge of the road.
I picked it up and was hopeful it was just stunned, because the shell was pretty much undamaged, but then I saw that at least its beak was cracked and perhaps its whole head. We carried it down off the road, and set it down. We'll check back in a couple days to see if it needs a funeral or if it miraculously pulled through.
And the moral of this story -- Watch for turtles!
