So, it's been a while since I updated. I guess I've just not been feeling as exhibitionistic as normal.
So, the first thing that I need to catch up on is thanking Amy and Adam for a fun night of eating pizza and playing the bean game. It was nice to be able to see you two. That's been about a week and a half ago now. I'm a slack booty.
So, during the last week, I finially managed to do my first experiment. It didn't go so well, but I'm pretty sure I know why (I didn't go long enough), and Dr. Diamond was very nice about the fact that it didn't work and he had some good ideas about how to do something that can show some of the data without requiring as much work. Essentially, I'm trying to see what has the strongest effect on clotting (this is probably not new research), platelets or neutrophils (a type of white blood cell). I'm also investigating fluid flow effects on clotting. I'll be redoing the experiment on Wednesday unless a problem comes up. The re-do will be
Friday, I went to Uzoma's birthday party (she's a girl in the lab with me). It was at the Jerk Hut, a Jamaican restaurant on South St. Decent food, but Jamaican food isn't exactly my thing. Eric was the only other person from the lab that was there, and I only knew a couple of other people. (I knew the names of most of the people there, but I didn't know them.) After that, Eric and I went over to Rachel's apartment where we played cards with her (inviting her boyfriend, David, to play with us, but he doesn't like playing cards, so it was her, Eric, and me). We had a good time.
And, just tonight, I had a nice rather long IM conversation with Hilary. She's one of the two people from high school that I keep up with-- her and Chandler. It was nice to catch up. She's still at Auburn double majoring in fine arts and marketing, and it looks like I may be able to see her in a couple of months which will be fun since I haven't seen her in about 2-3 years, maybe more.
I know that I'm leaving out a lot of the interesting bits of the last two weeks, like the new law for Free Bubblegum Tuesdays, but that shall wait for another day if ever.
