In the Sun Microsystems Stealth Project in the 1990s engineers were developing smart technology, such as microwaves. When they initially began this project they had planned to use C++, a common computer programming language, to build this technology. The team quickly decided that C++ was too problematic and complicated for their designs. One of the members or this team, James Gosling, began to try and modify C++ to better fit their needs. Gosling quickly forwent this effort though in favor of simply developing an entirely new computer language. Thusly Java first came into being.
