Cara's Apartment, Saturday Morning

Cara had been on this island long enough to figure out what was coming this weekend (even if she was in denial about it), and as such she being incredibly mature and not leaving her apartment. She wasn't even going to leave her room if she could help it

Oh please. You've met your daughter, Cara, you know she's not going to use the front door like a functional human being.

Besides, Lily had a KEY to the balcony door, so it wasn't like you could keep her out for long. And by 'key' she meant knife, but really, it was the same thing.

It wasn't long at all before she was in the apartment, and digging through Cara's fridge.

She knew she wasn't going to use that door, why else did Lily think she'd left it unlocked?

At hearing the fridge open, she pulled a pillow up to join the blanket. Because that would clearly help matters.

"I know you're awake," Lily called as she pulled out some juice. "You don't sleep through people trying to break into your space."

Had anyone ever told Lily she'd picked up being a smartass from her mother?

Glaring at the ceiling, Cara tossed her bedding aside and made her way into the main room. "If you were 'trying' to break in, you'd still be outside."

Yes, obviously Surreal's influence was to blame for the smart mouth.

"Fine. You don't sleep through people breaking in to your place," Lily said, rolling her eyes. You keep telling yourself that she gets it from Surreal, Cara.

Where else could she have gotten it? "There are very few people who would climb that high to break in when the front door was open."

IN Cara's experience, two of them to be exact.

Lily just shrugged. "How I was I supposed to know it was open? I know how to open the balcony door."

She had a key to the front door, but then her mother might think she was an intruder.

"You could have knocked."

Now she was just arguing for the sake of arguing, since the only reason she hadn't given Surreal a key was because she liked breaking in.

"What fun would that be?" Not the point, Lily.

"Weren't you raised with any manners?"

Ahahaha ha.

"Kahlan tried." Lily took a sip of her juice, keeping a straight face. "Sadi says she wasn't any match for the 'maternal instinct' of you and Mom."

"Like Sadi would know manners if they jumped up and bit his privates."
