The Onsen, Friday Afternoon

Dec 19, 2015 03:47

After her class had finished, Cara stayed at the Onsen, hoping a good long soak would do something, anything for the tension that'd been making her twitchy her up since she'd woken sweaty and panting for breath (and not in a fun way) that morning. Gradually she relaxed enough to let her eyes drift shut.

Some time later, she heard the faint splash of another person lowering themselves into the water, then a hand gently stroked along her cheek. "That better be who I think it is," she drawled, not bothering to open her eyes, because first, she missed her girlfriend, and second, almost anyone else doing that uninvited was going to lose the hand.

A bright blossom of pain bloomed along her lips as a vicious, unexpected backhand snapped her head to the side, only the fact she was already sitting keeping her from being knocked off her feet. So, not Surreal then.

Cara lunged to her feet, only to awkwardly check herself as she looked into a mirror. No, not quite a mirror. The woman in front of her still wore a proper Mord'Sith braid, hair pulled back tightly enough from her scalp tightly enough that Cara's itched in sympathy, and there was a flat hardness in her eyes that was familiar but had been absent from her gaze for...longer than she'd realised.

Still, she could only stand there staring, watching stupidly as her own lips formed the word 'traitor', hearing it in her own voice, before a fist twisted cruelly in her hair and shoved her head under the water.

Sputtering and choking, Cara surfaced, only to find herself alone.

Scrambling out of the water, she spat to get rid of the taste of copper, ignoring the streak of red left on the back of her hand after swiping it across her mouth. Clearly she'd spent too long in here, if she was falling asleep in the tub.

[Open, since, well, she is in public place. SP's a thing though.]

bde: x-mas ghosts, place: the onsen, stop hitting yourself, cara vs: bde, the denial is strong with this one, not so much issues as subscriptions
