It hadn't been a complete waste of her time, but Cara had been glad to leave the picnic behind her, in favour of actually going to the apartment she'd be staying in the next few months

Cara closed the door behind them. "Yes, I don't what I'll do with myself with all this space," she said, in tone that wasn't quite as sarcastic as she'd like.
The dorms had actually been the closest she'd ever been to living on her own.
"It's huge. You could fit two or three families in here," Surreal agreed, wandering around to check things like locks on windows or for any magical traps or tricks. Because reasons. "I'm still constantly surprised at how much space there is everywhere. All the houses are huge."
Cara smoothed a hand over a counter-top. "It's the materials that surprise me," she admitted. People had more space to build in villages and countryside. "My parents' house was wood."
"Though you'd think with all their space and stone they'd know how to make decent baths," she said, which reminded her to check the bathroom. "At least it has a tub." Which had been the one thing she'd actually asked for.
"Isn't the whole point of earning coin to spend it at the onsen and on food?" Surreal mused. "At least around here, anyway. Why don't they have real tubs?"
"True." Though she'd include weapons in that list. "My guess because they have insane priorities." Even more insane than Richard rescuing kittens instead of any of the other things he could be doing.
The tub looked dry enough that Cara could hoist herself into it without dampening her leathers. "I think two can fit in here," she said. Because that was important. For reasons. "If they don't mind getting cosy."
"I would hope two people trying to fit in a tub like that together would already be cozy," Surreal teased, leaning on the door frame. "Otherwise that could be awkward."
