Summary: The whole school thinks that Albus and Scorpius are enemies. The problem with this is that the boys barely know each other and have never really spoken. This all changes when Professor Kirke partners them for their seventh year potions project.

The day Professor Kirke paired Albus Severus Potter with Scorpius Malfoy was legendary. Apparently, most of the students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry thought the two boys to be sworn enemies. Albus was the lone Slytherin in all the Potter line while Scorpius was a Ravenclaw and it was assumed that Malfoy hated Potter for taking his place. The problem with this theory was that neither of the boys really knew the other. They didn’t fight, they didn’t talk and the definitely didn’t hate each other. Basically they were strangers who knew each others names and vague family history.

So when Albus walked up to Scorpius after potions that day the entire class held their breath in anticipation of the fight they’d been waiting to see for seven years, but instead Albus stuck out his hand and smiled.

“So, I guess we’re partners? I’m Albus and I’m planning on staying here over Hols to work on the project. Wanna stay with?” Albus blushed slightly when Scorpius took his hand but other than that no blood was raised.

“I believe I can do that. My father will understand that it is for school work.” Scorpius replied, shaking his hand firmly.

The class gasped when Scorpius mentioned his father and the blonde looked around to see what the big deal was. He failed to notice that it was him they were all focused on.

“I’m the only Slytherin staying over if you wanna stay in my dorm. There’s plenty of room.” Albus offered, taking his glasses off and cleaning them slowly.

“That’s fine with me. I’ll bring my potions kit and books. I have several extra texts that may be helpful in choosing with potion to prepare.” Scorpius stood as the bell rang and began to make his way to charms with Hufflepuff. Albus smiled at him once more before walking the opposite direction towards DADA.

Albus hugged his sister goodbye as she got ready to leave for Christmas break. She was a little sad that her brother was staying at school but she was alright with it. She was very serious about her studies and would be staying as well if she had to make a complicated potion for her semester grade.

After Lily left Albus made his way to the Ravenclaw table and sat down beside Scorpius. Once again, all eyes turned to them but Scorpius seemed oblivious to it. He had a large potions text open in front of him and he was barely even paying attention to what he was eating.

“You look like my aunt Hermione like that. She always reads at the table-it drives my uncle Ron mad.” Albus chuckled.

“My father doesn’t let me do it at home; he said its bad manners.” Scorpius said without looking up. After a moment Scorpius paused and cocked his head at Albus.

“Did you already eat?”

“Yeah, I wasn’t nearly as distracted as you are though.”

Scorpius took another bite then pushed his plate away.

“I think we should try this potion.” Scorpius pushed the text towards Albus and grinned.

“Perfect Dream Potion? It doesn’t sound difficult but these instructions are rather complicated. C’mon, we can go down to the lab and work on it if you want.”

Scorpius gathered his stuff and together they left the Great Hall. The rest of the student body shook their heads in annoyance and let out their collective breaths. That fight was getting pretty far behind.

“You know what’s weird, we’ve known each other for almost seven years but we don’t really know each other.” Scorpius said suddenly. It was the most words the blonde had said all day.
“Well, you do kinda stay by yourself most of the time.” Albus replied.

“Most of the students really don’t want to talk to me. They’re still frightened by the stories their parents told them about my parents.”

“Would you believe that my father has never once mentioned your father to me?” Albus asked.

“No, I wouldn’t believe that. You’re father was the hero and my father was the villain. Surely he told you that.” Scorpius scoffed.

“I’m serious. I didn’t even know that we were supposed to be rivals until I got to school and every other student told me. I asked my dad about it and he said that your father had paid his due and had moved on and so had he. That’s all he would tell me. I get back to school and people tell me about secret duels and cheating during quidditch. I don’t know what to believe.”

“All of that is true. You father and my father hated each other all through school-but during the war it was different. Your dad saved my fathers life twice and my father tried to protect your dad once but that’s not what people remember. They only remember that my father has a dark mark and that’s why I keep to myself and study. It’s not just because I’m a Ravenclaw but because I’m protecting myself and my family.”

Albus studied Scorpius for a moment then shrugged.

“What’s your favorite quidditch team?”

“What does that have to do with anything?” Scorpius huffed.

“I’m getting to know you better. My favorite team is the Chudley Canons but that’s mostly because that’s all uncle Ron allows.”

Scorpius sat down his book carefully and turned until his whole body was facing Albus. The potions lab was very quiet for a minute but then the blonde began to speak.

“I’ve always followed the Canons because my father hates them and it’s nice to drive him mad every once and a while.”

This started Albus off on an impassioned rant about the last Canons game and Scorpius let himself relax a little. He figured that it couldn’t hurt to have Albus as a friend.

A week later found Albus and Scorpius in the potions lab once again trying to brew the Perfect Dream potion well, perfectly. Scorpius was stirring the cauldron counter clock wise with a large wooden spoon while Albus gently dropped ingredients in.

“So this potion will give the drinker the perfect dream? Whatever it is that the person wants they will dream of having it?”

“That’s the basic idea.” Scorpius replied, stirring the potion until it turned clear blue then stopped and turned the heat off.

“Ok, it’s supposed to sit for 5 minutes then it can be drunk. The color is exactly as described in the book; we just need to test it.”

“Do you want to take it or do you want me to?” Albus asked, eying the contents of their cauldron.

“Well, your father is a Gryffindor and the Boy-Who-Lived to boot so surely you have enough courage to drink a little potion.” Scorpius smirked, then yelped when Albus punched him playfully.

“You brute! That hurt!”

“You’ll be fine Scorp. I’ll drink the potion tonight but only if you promise to drink it tomorrow. Remember though, if you wake up before me and make too much noise it will jerk me out of the dream and we won’t know if it worked properly.” Albus reminded him as he ladled out the prescribed amount and poured it into a glass vial.

Scorpius nodded as he did the same with two more vials then cleaned up their work area. Albus began carefully writing the potions name and ingredients on the labels and after a few minutes the boys were in a clean potions lab with three vials of potion and nothing else left to do.

“What time is it?” Scorpius asked.

“About midnight. I didn’t realize we’d been down here so long.” Albus answered, packing the vials in his bag then leading the way to the Slytherin dorms.

The two boys had been staying in Slytherin for a week and both were beginning to find it rather distracting. Albus had accepted his own attraction to boys fifth year but Scorpius was rather confused about his feelings. He’d never spent this much time with anyone of his own age before but he was finding himself very comfortable with Albus. A boy he was supposed to hate just because his father had hated his. Scorpius’ musings were cut short by them reaching the Slytherin dorm and Albus turned to grin at him before pulling the cork from his vial.

“I’m beat from brewing all day. I’m gonna take this and go to bed.”

“That’s fine, I’m tired too.”

Scorpius grabbed his pajamas and went to the bathroom to get read for bed. When he came back into the room Albus was sprawled across his own bed with only his boxers on and already snoring. Scorpius shook his head at his friend before pulling the blanket over him and settling down in the bed he was borrowing.

Scorpius was startled awake by a sharp cry from Albus’ bed. Instantly the blonde was up and at the others boys side. Horrific scenarios ran through Scorpius’ mind and he was worried that they’d ruined the potion and his friend was actually locked in a nightmare instead of a perfect dream.

“Albus, wake up.” Scorpius reached out and grasped Albus’ shoulders-only to have the brunette arch into his touch and groan.

Scorpius turned red to the very tips of his ears and tried to pull away only to have Albus follow him with a sigh.

“Mmm… Scorpius… that feels good.” Albus muttered softly.

Scorpius felt all the blood in his body rush southwards at Albus’ words and he fought the urge to lay down with the other boy.

Suddenly Albus shivered and went taut and Scorpius knew that the boy was close to orgasm. Then he moaned and came, his face tensing then relaxing as he settled down to sleep. Scorpius watched as Albus’ breathing calmed-though his own chest heaved with effort. After a moment of desperately trying to ignore his own erection Scorpius stood and made his way to the bathroom. After a quick wank Scorpius lay in bed, pulled the covers over his head and prayed that his dream would be less graphic.

Albus watched his new friend curiously the whole day. Something was bothering Scorpius and the brunette was determined to find out what it was. Any time Albus touched the other boy he would blush and pull away quickly. It was driving Albus insane very quickly and he was happy when night time rolled around. He hoped that Scorpius would be ready to talk in the morning because he couldn’t handle walking on pins and needles for another long day.

“Are you gonna take your vial of the potion tonight?”

Scorpius blushed instantly and looked anywhere but at Albus.

“I promised, didn’t I?” Scorpius squeaked-- then cleared his throat as his face burned brighter.

Albus shrugged at Scorpius’ odd actions and lay down on his bed. He watched as Scorpius uncorked his vial and eyed the contents grimly before downing it in one gulp. Instantly the blonde fell asleep and Albus snickered before turning over and letting sleep overtake him.

“Albus, don’t tease…” Scorpius gasped as he moved restlessly under his blankets.

Albus began to surface from sleep but then Scorpius said his name again and he found himself suddenly wide awake. He quietly slipped out of his bed and padded over to the one Scorpius was borrowing. The blonde was still thrashing, his hips rolling in time with his harsh breaths and Albus couldn’t help but reach out and touch him. His fingertips barely grazed Scorpius’ flushed cheeks and Albus found that this skin was burning hot and incredibly soft. He held his breath as he touched him again, this time trailing teasingly down Scorpius’ shoulder.

“Al!” Scorpius whined.

“Wake up for me Scorpius.” Al commanded, his voice loud enough to jolt the boy from his potion induced sleep. The blondes’ eyes snapped open but before he could begin to panic Albus sealed their mouths together.

Scorpius allowed Albus to roll atop him and settle between his thighs. The other boys’ weight felt amazing against his straining erection and he couldn’t help but groan wantonly when Albus pressed closer. They easily found a rhythm thrusting and grinding against each other until Scorpius cried out shrilly and gripped Albus’ hair.

“So close.” Scorpius gasped, attempting to disentangle himself from Albus.

Albus reached down and gripped Scorpius’ hips tightly then pulled them flush together.

“Where do you think you’re going?” Albus growled.

“I didn’t want to get you messy!” Scorpius protested as his eyes rolled back in their sockets.

“Don’t worry about that, just come for me.” Albus assured him, his breath tickling Scorpius’ lips.

Scorpius’ hips jerked once, twice then he was coming. Warmth spread out across his pajamas and soaked through to wet Albus’. The brunette relished the feeling for a moment before thrusting roughly and letting his own orgasm over take him. Albus collapsed atop Scorpius with a sigh of contentment and let himself bask in post coital bliss-only to be interrupted by Scorpius’ elbow in his stomach.

“You’re smashing me!”

“Sorry.” Albus apologized with a grin and rolled off him.

After a moment Albus reached out and gathered Scorpius close to him and smiled.

“Are you going to freak out Scorp?”

Scorpius tried to remember why he was ever upset in the first place but found that he was entirely too comfortable to even care. He shook his head negatively and grinned.

“Why should I? It was a perfect dream.”

“Potions are due today. You have had all of Christmas break as well as this past week to complete your project. I hope that none of you put your project off until the last minute because I can spot poorly brewed potions from a yard away.” Professor Kirke said as he pulled put his scroll of names.

“Albus Potter and Scorpius Malfoy-what potion did you brew?”

The class watched the two boys curiously. There were no outward signs of fighting but they could imagine the type of scrapes the boys must have gotten into in the Slytherin dormitory alone.

“We brewed the Perfect Dream Potion.” Albus answered.

“Ah yes, and how did it work for you two? Surely you’ve tested it.” Professor Kirke looked at them narrowly and Scorpius nodded.
“Yes sir we did. The potions works as it’s supposed to. It gives the drinker the perfect dream about whatever it is that they want the most when they drink it. Albus even went so far as to make a loud noise while I was under the influence of the potion to see if I would really be jerked rudely from my potion induced dream and I was.”

“Very good, thank you boys.” Professor Kirke collected the vial Albus held up then moved onto the next group.

The students around them were all whispering furiously behind their hands and Albus rolled his eyes in annoyance. After hearing several of his classmates’ gossip openly about him and Scorpius fighting over break Albus snapped. He reached out and grabbed Scorpius by the shoulders and pressed their lips together roughly.

Scorpius all but melted against him and the class instantly fell silent. Albus let his friend go after a moment but his point had been made clearly. Luckily, Professor Kirke was berating a group for a shoddy potion and had not noticed the display.

“They reckon it’s destiny that we ended up together, you know.” Scorpius said after a moment. “The whole love for thy enemies’ thing.”

Albus smirked at his boyfriend and watched as he slowly grinned back.

“Now I just have to tell my dad about this whole love of thy enemies’ thing.” Albus said suddenly.

“Oh god, I hadn’t thought of that…”

“Fancy bringing you father to my house for dinner sometime? I promise that it’ll be amusing.”

“If you promise to shield me from stray curses.”

“Deal.” Albus pecked him quickly once more before interlacing their fingers and mentally writing a letter to his father about destiny.
