Summary: Haruhi wants to know if Tamaki can tell her what love is.
“Tamaki-Senpai, I want to ask you a question.” Haruhi said suddenly one day.
The two of them were alone in the gazebo in the rose garden-Tamaki had dragged her out there during another rousing game of hide and seek and they had yet to be found. She thought that was rather odd since the rest of the club knew about this hiding place but she figured that they were humoring their King before coming to find him.
“Yes daughter?” He beamed happily.
“Do you know what love is? We’re hosts and we talk about it almost every day but I’ve never loved anyone.” She asked softly, her eyes thoughtful.
“Love is simple, Haruhi. Love is being able to sit in silence with someone and not care about it. Love is knowing exactly what the other will do or say to any given action before they do it. Love is taking care of someone because they’re too stubborn to do it themself.” Tamaki sighed and gazed out into the garden.
“Love is the wonderful feeling of your stomach falling to your feet and your heart jumping into your throat every time you see that special person.”
“Wow Tamaki-Senpai, how do you know all of that?” Haruhi asked curiously.
Tamaki chuckled softly before turning back to the girl and smiling at her.
“I know all of that because I am in love, Haruhi.”
“With who?” Her brow furrowed and she was dismayed to feel a tiny flutter of jealousy in her heart. She knew intellectually that she and Tamaki were bad for each other but he was too charming for his own good sometimes.
“Kyouya!” Tamaki beamed, jumping up from the bench and running at his best friend.
“Mommy, you found me!” He giggled like an overexcited puppy.
Kyouya disentangled himself from the blonde but Haruhi saw the small, genuine smile on his face. Instantly she thought that she was crazy for even imagining such a thing but then Tamaki linked his arm through Kyouyas and she knew.
Tamaki knew what love was because he was in love with Kyouya and Kyouya loved him.
