Summary: 100 word drabble. Arthur feels no sorrow when the man who betrayed him dies.
It is the memory of betrayal that prompts Arthur to give the order: withhold treatment, let him die.
Gaius objects, of course, vehemently, tears in his eyes; he gets down on his knees and begs. But Arthur is his father’s son - he is immovable. In this matter, his word is law. He is driven by the memory of eyes that bore no trace of guilt or shame. Arthur has never known such anger, such betrayal. So he feels no sorrow when the traitor dies.
As the Arthur looks down upon his father’s grave, Merlin rests a hand upon his shoulder.
