I know I'm a little late with my election glee, but I'm voicing it anyway. And I know that this won't make things happy ever after or even a whole lot better than they are now, but at least this country is taking a different direction. People were not happy with how things were and they did something about it. And it's nice feeling that everything I believe in and want is not completely at odds with the rest of the country and I don't have to fight so hard against everything and everyone to get to a place I want to be in, and I don't mean physically.
And I think that's what makes this election such a big deal. Not what the Democrats will do or won't do or how they will or won't fix things or make things better, but that the people have decided they didn't like the direction our country was going and have caused a major shift in who has the power to run this country because of it. It's that there's some hope. That maybe the majority of people realize what's been going on and want a change. And that makes me feel a little better about this country and the people in it.
Also, it seems there are people all over the world celebrating the shift in power:
