A surprise just for you....
All right, so you might think you know what I'm going to write. You think I'm going to cry and bemoan that fact that it's cold and wet outside and damn Illinois. And, it's not that I don't support those facts - I do. But the fact is, I like the first snow of the season. I love it's sad silence and dreary eloquence. I love how voices are always shushed and stifled outside in that first snow. Is it out of awe? Fear? Or perhaps just the resignation that this is the first of many more?
I have no idea - but there's something that quiets the world when it snows. I love it. I wish that it weren't so cold and wet, true but it's a small price to pay.
I love how it weights the brittle branches of the barren trees, cloaking our world in blanket of quiet purity.
It thrills me.
So there. I'm not complaining. I like the snow.
