Because these two are companion pieces, I'm putting them in the same post (that, and because I'm feeling a tad too lazy to bother making two within minutes of one another).

Title: “Early Morning Fog”
Challenge: ((43)) Memory for
kingdom100 (
Prompts Table)
Claimed: Demyx
Other Characters: Emyd, Arista (from The Little Mermaid)
Rating: Teen
Disclaimer: If I owned Kingdom Hearts, there would’ve been more scenes with Demyx.
Notes: I wrote this because I'm sick of everyone insisting that Demyx is the angel of the Organization. It was more of an experiment than anything else, but hell, it was fun. :)
Some nights, when Demyx curled up after a successful mission, he’d dream of the sea. In his fantasies he’d be whole, not the half of a Somebody that he was in his waking existence. In his dreams he’d have his heart intact as well as his soul, and be able to flit around with friends who’d known him his entire life.
He’d dream he was in the undersea world of Atlantica, where people would call him Emyd and where he’d be painstakingly in love with the mer-princess Arista. She’d know about him, of course, but because of her royal lineage she’d be unable to return his affections. The brunette would try everything he could imagine to win her attentions- he’d even become a renowned sitar player, who’d play with the royal undersea orchestra on a regular basis.
Emyd’s water would always be soft and pleasant, and his home safe and warm- until the dream’s darkness would seep in. It would be timid at first, a gentle whisper into Emyd’s ear, whispering, ”She’ll never love you like you are. You need to show her you care-open yourself up to the Darkness.”
Gradually, Emyd would come to believe that his obsession with Arista wasn’t one-sided; he’d insist that she truly loved him, as intensely as he adored her. He’d slide through the sea gardens and into the palace, compelled to “show Arista what she’s missing.”
In Demyx’s dreams, however, there would be no violence, no bounty on his head, and no murder in a desperate attempt to escape. There would never be any darkness shifting his form and pushing his soul into Darkness. No, those things were saved for evenings after a particularly harsh failure.
Instead, Arista would tearfully admit her love, rushing to his arms and proclaiming she would spend eternity with him, despite what the King would want. They would laugh and cry together, sneaking away so that they could push and moan together in elated reunion.
When Nobody IX dreamed these things, he liked to think of them as a thank-you from the Superior, and he’d always spend the next day struggling to reconcile his need to end the violence with his longing to be back in the dreams.

Title:”Under His Eyes”
Challenge: ((03)) Secret for
kingdom100 (
Prompts Table)
Character Claim: Demyx
Other Characters: Axel
Rating: Pg-13 (blackmail and mentions of rape)
Disclaimer: Sorry, don’t own Kingdom Hearts. Wish I did, though.
Notes: This is a companion piece to ”Early Morning Fog.”
“You raped her.” Axel punctuated the declaration with casual venom.
“What’re you talking about?” Number IX twirled to face him, shaking his head and rolling his arms up in confusion.
But the glint in Axel’s eyes told Demyx all he needed to know. His stomach curdled and he dropped his arms instantly. He didn’t know how the fire wielder had found out, but once he knew who told him, Demyx’d kill them.
“Might be me, but I don’t think she appreciated it, you know?” It might have been the musician’s pulsing dread, but he could have sworn Axel had started circling him.
Working to keep his voice low, the blonde struggled to look dangerous. Whatever Axel thought he was doing, it wasn’t funny.
“Who told you?” Demyx even managed a few steps closer, finger extended accusingly.
“She did.”
For a minute, Demyx’s heart lightened slightly. That was ridiculous. “Oh, come on. Like you went to Atlantica?”
Axel’s smile morphed into a crookedly gaping hole, elongating at its edges. “Arista’s not the same anymore, the pathetic little princess.”
“Shut-“
“I knew you were just as bad as the rest of us.” Axel had swooped in and was leering into his face. “You couldn’t have been as good as you pretended, you know? Wasn’t natural.”
“Stop it!” Demyx snarled, pushing forward on the other. “It wasn’t me! It was-my-Other.” Number IX ended up shouting at the thin air. Axel’d portal-ed out of there, leaving a slightly rumpled note behind him.
“Jerk,” Demyx snarled, crumpling up Axel’s request (but slipping it into his pocket, anyways). If that was how Axel wanted to play, then Demyx would have to go along. He’d tell him what he knew about Sora’s weaknesses (not that Olympus was the best battle to judge by), and hopefully that would keep the jerk quiet.
At least, the blonde prayed that it would. Because the last thing Demyx wanted was Axel blabbing his worst memories to all the rest of the Nobodies. He would rather die first.
