Title: magic inside your fingertips {a joe and demi oneshot}
Word Count:1415
Characters: Joe/Demi
Rating: G
Summary: One of the best things about filming JONAS is its proximity to Demi's set. Joe can't count the number of times he's accidentally wandered over to the Sonny set when he was supposed to be filming a scene, but it wasn't his fault really, his feet just kind of bring him there.
Author's Note: Okay, I suck. This was supposed to be a '5 times Joe and Demi did or didn't make out' kind of thing, but writer's block has been a bitch lately, so...no.

I was actually wondering though, does anyone want to co-write something? Because I have two or three ideas that I really want to come through, but I need help getting it started or something. If you do, just comment here or PM me. :)

One of the best things about filming JONAS is its proximity to Demi's set. Joe can't count the number of times he's accidentally wandered over to the Sonny set when he was supposed to be filming a scene. It's not his fault really, his feet just kind of bring him there.

They have the same lunch break today, so Joe leaves set a little early to go grab some lunch for the two of them. They both have catering on site, but he hasn't taken her out in a while, so making it up in little ways is better than nothing, he figures. He takes one of the guard's black Explorers over to the deli down the block and orders (two ham sandwiches, one with extra pickles and no mayo for her) before booking it back to set. They don't have more than an hour for lunch and he hates lost time when it comes to Demi, so he doesn't really take the time to break and turns a little sharply into the lot. Joe can see Demi waiting at the side entrance of his building as he pulls in, with her hair falling on in front of her face as she stares down at her phone. He parks quickly in the back of the lot, the black SUV camouflaged with the eight or nine twin cars surrounding him. Quietly slipping out of the car, he grins before whipping out his phone to send a message. Because maybe he does have a little time to spare.

They need me to teach an acting class...can't make it to lunch :(

He leans against the side of the car and peaks out from it, waiting for an angry reaction, maybe a stomp or even crushing her phone under her heel, if he's lucky. Instead, he sees Demi visibly roll her eyes and press a number, before putting the phone to her ear. Joe's so thrown off by the fact that his date cancellation isn't important enough for phone smashing to be occurring, that he doesn't really hear the loud and obnoxious ringtone coming from the blackberry in his hand, at first. He notices it about five seconds into the intro of a Zutons song, but it's five seconds too late as he sees Demi striding towards the tinny music coming from the side of his car.

She reaches the car, and her cheeks are kind of flushed from waiting out in the heat and the way her hair's sticking to her forehead makes Joe grin a little at her. She's just cute, is all. She's not having it though, because she just rolls her eyes again then grabs his hand, trying to lead him towards the buildings. Joe plants his feet in his place though, not budging, because seriously? No reaction whatsoever?

"Oh I dunno, Dem. This lunch clearly means nothing to you, so I might as well take these deliciously fantastically professionally made sandwiches somewhere else..." he says, with his arms crossed over his chest, the sandwich bags wedged between his arms.

Demi sighs and stops pulling for a second to say, "You know, if you wanted for that trick to work at all, you should've come up with a more realistic excuse, you dork. Now I promised Selena we'd watch her rehearse so if you could not do this right now.."

He still doesn't move, however, and before he can be mad at her for the off-hand insult, Demi pauses for a few seconds to smile. She leans in, letting her heels do much of the reaching, as she gives him a soft kiss on the lips. "You can try to trick me again later, ya doof. Let's go eat, okay?" Joe licks his lips subconsciously and nods. This time when she reaches for his hand, he lets her lead the way to Selena's building.

They walk in, brown bagged lunches in hand, choosing front row seats in the small auditorium where rehearsals were being held. Selena offers them a small wave, but Joe figures they might have come at the wrong time as David and Selena seemed to be locked in an intense argument with their director. Joe and Demi watch for a few minutes, overhearing words like "Ridiculous!" (the director) "There's only four!" (Selena) and "Tangerine-y!"(David.)

"Okay, we are not spending all lunch break watching this. I vote we take these sandwiches backstage and explore a bit," Joe says, wiggling his eyebrows conspiratorially.

Demi wiggles hers back, "Operation Trespass? Excellent."

They grab the bags and sneak out of their seats, obnoxiously whistling as they tiptoe past the stage set then breaking into a sprint into the backrooms. The place is utterly cluttered with props, ranging from the normal ladders and chairs to weirdly massive blow up frogs and cauldrons. Joe's trying on an excellent plush wizard's hat when Demi calls his name from inside a closet nearby.

Joe follows her voice into what seems to be an enormous props closet with shelves lined with buckets of smaller knickknacks, letting the door swing shut behind him.

"'Ello Demetria," Joe growls in a British accent, "Is there any reason you invited me into a closet?," he asks, wiggling his eyebrows. He seems to be doing that a lot today.

She doesn't wiggle back this time, choosing to roll her eyes instead, and says, "You wish, Joseph. I just wanted to show you these incredible wands! Glow in the dark and everything, dude! Accio Butterbeer!," she says swishing her wand. She starts laughing, doing her loud Demi laugh that Joe usually finds adorable when he's in on the joke, but kind of annoying when he's not. Like now.

"Alright Dem, you know I haven't read Harry Potter. If we're going to play wizards you can't do that. No one-upping, lady," Joe says seriously.

"Joe, you can't go through life without knowing the story of Harry," Demi states, in an equally dire voice. "I refuse to play Wizards with you until you let me summarize it for you, or something."

It's Joe's turn to roll his eyes: "Alright Dem, be my guest. Don't expect me to like it though. This is just to get you to ride my broomstick, if you know what I mean," Joe winking obnoxiously, jabbing his elbow into her side, before stopping abruptly when he feels her soft tee rubbing against her skin. He always forgets how soft she feels in his hands.

Demi chooses to ignore the last part of that sentence (which is probably a good idea, Joe thinks, since he's not allowed to do that and all) and intones in a low voice: "Alright. Once upon a time, there lived a little baby named Harry Potter. He was this crazy baby wizard because when..."

An hour later, Selena and David, who have clearly forgotten their friends' visit amongst difficult arguments and complex spells, burst into the closet looking for props. Instead, they walk into the dark room and see Demi, her body looking small in a huge cloak that's probably David's and her hands in constant motion, waving and jabbing into the air as her mouth moves at the same rate. Joe is sitting literally five or six inches away from her face, wearing this oversized wizard's hat, clearly hanging on to her every word. Demi seems to be wrapping up saying breathlessly, "And I swear, Joe. He's just thirteen when all of this happens. Just wait till I tell you about when---"

It's at this point that Selena chooses to clear her throat, alerting the duo to their presence. "Um, guys? What the heck are you doing in here?" Selena says, trying to figure out what could possibly require their attire and a coat closet. She's not coming up with any ideas.

Demi gets on her feet pretty quickly, casually taking off her robe and swiping the hat off of Joe's head before he can even realize what's happening. She brushes some dust out of Joe's hair before saying nonchalantly to David and Selena, "Oh, you know. Just making out and stuff." Selena laughs and does a really long "guuuuys, eeew!" and David's busy laughing and slapping Joe on the back. The real Wizards have picked up the props they came for and they're halfway down the hallway before Joe gets a chance to catch Demi's eye. She shoots him a grin and a wink before turning back to Selena.

Joe's not really sure how he got this lucky.
