Too Long!

Dahlins! It has been too long since I lasted posted. A lot has happened on my end. My Mama's Father passed away on March 8 at 6:15am. He had his fifth heart attack on February 23,2010 at 3:30am and his heart was reduced to working only about 20%. He was put on a ventilator on Wednesday February 24, 2010 at 3:30am. He fought long and hard. Due to his tendency to fight the ventilator he was sedated and restrained much of the time. Ten days into being on the ventilator it came to be decision time. Papa was very clear that he WOULD NOT have a tracheotomy. So on Friday March 5 we made the choice to take him off the ventilator. The hospital was wonderful and let us wait till Sunday March 7 so that everyone could be there and be with him. They took the vent off at 1:30pm and he lasted until 6:15am the next morning. It was difficult to let him go, but a blessing as well. He is no longer tired or in pain. He was my godfather and I still struggle with knowing that he won't dance with me at my wedding or even meet the guy I will marry (still looking for Mr. Right.) I am learning that grieving is a daily process. I can say that today is a good day and tomorrow, well that's in God's hands. I would ask prayers of you, Dahlins, I have discovered that I need a lot of prayers.

In other news, I have decided that I need to lose weight. Over the passed few months with all of the stress and heartache I have put on weight that needs to come off. I have been working at it and I am not seeing results. So I have started the Alli Program for weight-loss. So far I have lost 5 pounds with my overall goal being to lose 55 pounds. I am loving the whole program. If you want to know more you can go to myalli.com (sorry for the shameless plug!)

School is going well. I am coming to the end of my second 8 week term and will start a new 8 week session on Monday. This summer I will be taking British Literature II, Reading in the Content Area, and Modern English Grammar (Loads of fun, I know!)

As far as what I am currently reading (in what little free time I have), I am OBSESSED with Rebecca Wells' Ya-Yas. If you don't them they are the four wonderfully bayou flavored Louisiana best girlfriends of Vivianne, Teensy, Caro, and Necie. The first book is called Little Altars Everywhere, the second is The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood, the third is Ya Yas in Bloom. If you have not read them I highly recommend them. They are marvelous! If you want more information visit rebeccawellsbooks.com.
